Happy Easter everyone. To those of you who have friends or family in Nightingale we know it’s difficult not being with them. It is for the greater good that we have limited access to essential personnel, to protect your loved one and our hard working and dedicated staff. Though we have no visitors at present you can still see your loved one.. ring us on our usual number and we’ll give you the WhatsApp number so you can make a video call.

Thank you to the friends and families of Nightingale Nursing Home for understanding the measures we have put in place to keep our residents and staff safe in these difficult times. Please rest assured that we are taking infection control measures very seriously, all of our staff are trained in Infection Prevention and Control, we have PPE (personal protective equipment) on site should they be required we have also limited entry to the nursing home to essential services only. Please feel free to contact us any time and we will keep you updated. Most importantly, stay safe and well and we will see you at the other side of this difficulty.

Happy New Year to all the Residents of Nightingale Nursing Home and their families. Best Wishes also to the staff and management for providing such wonderful care in a relaxed and homely atmosphere assisted by our physio Ciara, OT Cian, Dietitian Deirdre, Chiropodist Jenny and hairdresser Gillian and of course the GPs who continue to provide additional care and support (apologies if I've forgotten anyone). Greatest gratitude and kind wishes must however go to Maureen for developing such a wonderful asset to the community, now in its 22nd year.

Nightingale yesterday lost one of it's much loved and cherished residents. Michael Gacquin had been with us since 2009 and was very much the man of the house. During his time here he looked after us as much as we looked after him. For staff who travelled a distance to work he would consult his maps to try to find them a quicker or shorter route. During our HIQA inspections he would ask "are you girls alright?" He was a very intelligent man with a quick wit and wicked sense of humour. He was larger than life and it is with a heavy heart that we have to say goodbye. Rest in Peace Michael.
