Here in the RT department in UHG we are a busy public RT department. We cover a catchment area of over 1 million people, covering the West and North West of Ireland. Our department has 3 Siemens Linear Accelerators, a dedicated wide bore Phillips CT, a Varian HDR unit and Gulmay orthovoltage unit. We also are the only centre in Ireland to have the Clarity Ultrasound system used for accurate location of the prostate during prostate treatments. Our treatment plans are calculated using Oncentra MasterPlan by Nucletron. Our staff come from numerous disciplines, each an important part of the department. Our staff include medical and nursing, radiation therapists, medical physics team, clerical and auxiliary staff. We are a young department with a can do attitude. We embrace new techniques and clinical trials in the aim of providing the best treatment to our patients.
