I think one of the more difficult elements of stress, anger, worry or anxiety, is the perception they are something that happen to us, and we have no control over them.

When actually you are more in control then you think.

If you already know this, then it’s a case of learning how to neutralise those, and creating some self-supporting, more resourceful states instead.

For those of you with an energy sapping narcissist in your life, the answer is simple..........Drop them!
It really is the best way.

Engaging with a narcissist means your kind and generous nature is open to abuse (and it will be abused) and you’ll find yourself wasting your precious energy and thoughts on a self-centered, shameless manipulator.
It’s easiest to just drop them!!

If you think you are a narcissist, Change!!!
Get some help.
Why?.......Because at some stage, you’ll become exhausted from attempting to justify, or continually running from the responsibilities of your actions and behaviours that have caused harm to others.
Best to Change!

Here’s a question for you:
Does what you believe support you in your life, or obstruct you in your life?

“I could do that...........”

Or

“I wouldn’t be able to do that because.......”

Both are conditioned beliefs. One supportive. One obstructive.

Both can be changed, however I would suggest only changing the obstructive one 😃.

Reminder to self!Sure if you’re going to bother doing anything, you might as well. 😃

Happiness is a state!
It is not a goal.

Happiness is a mindset. It’s a way of being.

You were born happy, along with a sense of curiosity and wonderment.
And as we navigate the challenges and responsibilities of life, we can loose sight of what we were, and become tangled in what we have become.

This often leads us to chasing things we think will make us happy, only to be disappointed.
When actually all you have to do is change your mindset to being a happier person right now.

This was sent to me from my very wise Auntie. Quite poignant. Enjoy!

“And the people stayed home.
And read books, and listened, and rested, and exercised, and made art, and played games, and learned new ways of being, and were still.
And listened more deeply.
Some meditated, some prayed, some danced.
Some met their shadows.
And the people began to think differently.
And the people healed.
And, in the absence of people living in ignorant, dangerous, mindless, and heartless ways, the earth began to heal.
And when the danger passed, and the people joined together again, they grieved their losses, and made new choices, and dreamed new images, and created new ways to live and heal the earth fully, as they had been healed."

Often, we suffer greatly before making necessary changes in our lives.
Holding off until the suffering and pain of not changing has exceeded the perceived pain of surrendering to the uncertainty of making a change.

It’s also good to know that change can be done without suffering.

Now that most of us have a bit of time on our hands, have you ever stopped to really consider the way you think?

Stopped to consider whether your thinking is self limiting, or self supporting?

Whatever way your thinking is now, you will have created a life story to justify it. And that life story determines what you believe you can and can’t do. It will also determine how afraid you are, how you act and behave, and ultimately the person you are today.

So if your story is of challenges, hurt, unfairness, neglect, abuse, basically anything that leads to you believing you are a victim, the key is to focus on what overcoming these challenges has given you instead. Some examples might be, your inner strength, better coping skills, independence, responsibility, determination, resilience, and of course wisdom.

Your same story, viewed with these more positive perspectives will lead to more self supporting thinking.

Let me now if you found this helpful?

Anxiety, or unrecognised anxiety, is often a key factor that holds people back. Nobody wants or needs debilitating levels of anxiety in their life.

Anyone suffering with anxiety is doing just that………. suffering. None of us want to suffer.
So how do we know if its anxiety that’s holding us back?

The following are just some symptoms that an anxiety sufferer might experience:

It might be a case of the Sunday blues, that feeling of dread ahead of going into work the following morning. Putting off things like socialising with friends, or simple tasks that would have previously been easy to do but now seem to be big complicated and problematic challenges that get avoided.

There might be a general lack of energy or enthusiasm, where avoidance is becoming more and more commonplace. This could be making excuses to get out of spending time with your family, attending social gatherings, or even playing with your children.

Some anxiety sufferers might find they are getting stressed more often, and in more situations. Situations such as having lunch or a work break in the staff canteen, getting stressed before or during work meetings, or even when standing in queues in the supermarket or at the bank.

Anxious people may also notice that they are not able to enjoy things as much as they use to, and that their sense of humour is also not what it used to be.

Another common symptom is finding it difficult in getting off to sleep at night, finding yourself lying in your bed, awake for hours and hours with your mind racing and worrying, unable to shut it off.

There are also some physical symptoms for anxiety sufferers. These can include, sweaty palms, sweating in general, shortness of breath, dry mouth, tension around the stomach, chest or throat, numbness in either the arms or legs, heart palpitations or even nausea.

Some small levels of anxiety in life are considered normal, but if your anxiety is disrupting your quality of life, then it is a problem that really should be addressed and its possibly time to seek some help.

Addressing and overcoming anxiety is absolutely possible, and it is a lot easier than you might currently think.

Anyone who knows they are (or thinks they might be) suffering with anxiety, will know other people in similar circumstances and situations who are not anxious. Ultimately they will want to be like them, free from anxiety. They may not know how to be like them yet, but they will know that being anxiety free is possible.

Personally, I hadn’t realised that I had been afraid for the majority of my life which led to me feeling very uncomfortable and often very anxious in certain situations. I hadn’t realised how much of a negative impact this anxiety was having on my life. This became very apparent during and after my training as an integrative psychotherapist , and the personal therapy sessions I received as part of my training.

What I do now in my Change Sessions practice in Caherlistrane is help anxiety sufferers overcome their anxiety, allowing them to live more fulfilled lives again.

This is a testimonial from one of my clients: "I had tried everything, visited every therapist in the Galway region. Paddy worked with me until I walked out with my head held high ready to the face the world for the first time in years. You literally saved my life."

A couple of immediate changes anyone can implement to help reduce anxiety in the short term is to do a little exercise, eat better and avoid skipping meals. You could make a few small changes in both these areas by simply going for walks and eating healthier foods more regularly.

Maybe now might be a good time to make anxiety a thing of the past. Feel free to message me (there should be a “Send Message” button on this post), drop me an email, or even give me a call.

Addressing anxiety is actually easier than most people think!

Anxiety can creep up on us over time and start having a really negative impact in our lives, often without us even realising it.

Things like dreading going into work, getting increasingly worried about interactions at work, avoiding social occasions, to stopping yourself from getting out and about, or finding yourself being worried without knowing why.

Behind these would be some form of anxiety. Anxiety that would have built up over time without us even being aware of it (sometimes we are) but to a debilitating level where it is now stopping us from doing things we would have previously done, or stopped us enjoying things we would have previously enjoyed.

So is anxiety the problem?
Well, if someone is anxious it is most likely going to be causing a problem.
However, anxiety is something that doesn't have to be suffered.

Maybe some of these sound familiar:
- The mind buzzing, constantly racing, unable to switch it off.
- Feelings of being on edge, on high alert.
- Increased worrying.
- Thinking the worst-case scenario in certain aspects of life, whether it’s to do with career/job security, provision for the family, relationships, family, or health.
- A general lack of energy or enthusiasm, where avoidance and making excuses is becoming more commonplace.
- Finding it difficult to sleep at night.

Some physical symptoms of anxiety can include, sweating, shortness of breath, dry mouth, body tension, limb numbness, heart palpitations or even nausea.

If any of these sound familiar then anxiety is having a negative impact, and it might be time to seek some help with addressing it.

The good news:
Addressing and overcoming anxiety is absolutely possible. Although it may seem like a huge task to move past it, it is absolutely possible and a lot easier than most people think.

I had been afraid most of my life. This meant I previously felt very uncomfortable and often anxious in certain situations. The negative impact anxiety had in my life became very apparent during and after my training as an integrative psychotherapist, and the personal therapy sessions I received as part of that training.

What I do now in my Change Sessions practice in Caherlistrane is help sufferers overcome their anxiety, so they can start living more fulfilled lives again.

This is a testimonial from one of my clients: " The one to one change sessions, is probably one of the best things I have ever done. I have gotten so much out of them… Before I went to see Paddy I worried about every little thing.. I now feel fantastic and really at ease with my life and I’m so grateful for everything I have… I’m very lucky, I would recommend Paddy to everyone… "

Here are a couple of tips to help reduce anxiety in the short term:
- Take deep belly breaths, and focus on the breath.
- Focus: If I wasn’t being anxious, what would I be thinking or doing instead. Place your attention and focus on that.
- Feeling anxious? Accept it. Go with it. It’s just a feeling, an emotional reaction. It may feel unpleasant but a feeling is all it is. It will pass.

Maybe now might be a good time to make anxiety a thing of the past. Feel free to message me (there should be a “Send Message” button on this post), drop me an email, or even give me a call.
