**Important Update***

Dear Patients,

We hope this message finds you well. Unfortunately, our practice was struck by lightning last night, which has temporarily affected our computer systems. As a result, we are currently experiencing some challenges in managing appointment bookings and delivering care as efficiently as we normally do.

Please know that our dedicated team is working tirelessly to resolve these issues and ensure that we continue to provide the highest quality of care during this time. We appreciate your understanding and patience as we navigate through this situation.

If you need to contact us or book an appointment, please be aware that response times might be a bit longer than usual. We are here for you and will do everything we can to meet your healthcare needs as promptly as possible.

Thank you for your continued trust in our practice. Weโ€™ll keep you updated on any further developments.

Warm regards,

Long Acting Reversible Contraception (LARC) are highly effective in preventing pregnancy for an extended period of time.

LARCs are reversible which means that it is possible to remove them and once you do you can become pregnant as quickly as someone who is not using contraception. An exception is the injection, where there can be a delay in return to fertility.

All LARCs are covered free of charge under the contraception programme for 17-30-year-olds.ย

Get winter ready by getting vaccinated๐Ÿ’‰ We would encourage all those in at-risk groups to contact their GP or local pharmacy about getting vaccinated as soon as possible. The best time to have the vaccines is in the autumn or early winter, before the viruses start spreading and we start to see cases rise.

The vaccinations are offered free of charge for those most at risk, for example over-65โ€™s, pregnant women and those with a compromised immune system. It is also offered for free and encouraged for healthcare professionals and carers

We are now running vaccine clinics at Galway Primary Care.

Our Story

GP Care was started in 1983 by Dr. Denis C. Higgins as a small, single-handed, practice in Ballybane and through a lot of hard work and dedication has become one of the leading, and most dynamic, practices in Ireland.

Our multi-disciplinary, medical team prides itself on delivering the highest level of patient care possible in the community at a level above-and-beyond what is considered the standard for general practice.

In 2016, Dr. Higgins Snr. was joined in the practice by his son Dr. Brian Higgins who has continued the tradition of striving to optimise what is possible in Irish Primary Health.

GP Care provides a range of service including: - Bone density scanning - Sports medicine - Pain medicine and joint injections - Dermatology clinics - Menopause care - Executive health screening - Cardiac screening programmes - Antenatal ultrasound scanning - Travel medicine services - Physiotherapy - Psychology and psychotherapy services - Occupational health - Audiology service
