Maeve Duffy | BSc Health & Performance Science | MSc Physiotherapy | MISCP

Say hello to Maeve, one of our dedicated physiotherapists with a passion for sports injury management and prevention 🙌

🎓 Background:
Maeve is a CORU-registered physiotherapist who graduated in 2020 with a BSc in Health & Performance Science from University College Dublin. She went on to complete her MSc in Physiotherapy at University College Cork in 2022. Since then, she has gained extensive experience at UPMC Sports Surgery Clinic Santry, treating a wide range of orthopaedic and musculoskeletal injuries. She also worked directly with leading orthopaedic surgeons, specialising in knee and shoulder injuries, guiding patients from pre-op preparation through to full return to performance.

💪 Special Interests:
Maeve has a strong interest in sports injury management, injury prevention, and rehabilitation. Her clinical approach blends education, evidence-based exercise medicine, manual therapy, and tailored interventions — empowering patients to overcome injuries and return to peak performance.

🏅 Sports Experience:
Maeve is currently Lead Physiotherapist with Galwegians RFC. She has also worked with elite and amateur teams including Connacht Rugby Provisional Talent squads, Mayo Senior Camogie, USA GAA national team, and numerous club rugby and GAA teams — both pitch-side and in clinic.

Whether it’s helping athletes return to the pitch or supporting patients in everyday recovery, Maeve brings passion, expertise, and a holistic approach to every session 🙌🏻

✨ Meet Andy! ✨
Andy Byrne | BSc Physiotherapy | MISCP

Say hello to Andy, one of our dedicated physiotherapists with a passion for musculoskeletal care and sports rehabilitation 🙌

🎓 Background:
Andy graduated with a BSc (Hons) in Physiotherapy from the University of Brighton in 2015. Since then, he has gained extensive experience working in the UK, New Zealand, and Ireland across both public and private healthcare sectors. He has developed a broad skillset in respiratory, orthopaedic, and neurological physiotherapy, before specialising in musculoskeletal care. During his time in the UK, Andy also worked as an academy physiotherapist for Brighton & Hove Albion FC ⚽

💪 Special Interests:
Andy has a strong interest in lower back pain management and sports rehabilitation. He has completed numerous postgraduate courses in exercise prescription and manual therapy, and developed expertise in upper limb assessment and treatment while working in a specialist hand therapy unit at University College Hospital Galway.

🏅 Sports Experience:
From a sporting perspective, Andy has worked with elite athletes, most recently serving as a physiotherapist for the Galway Hurling team in 2022 and 2023 🏑. His active, hands-on approach to rehabilitation integrates personalised exercise plans to help patients recover and achieve their goals. Outside of work, Andy enjoys an active lifestyle and has a lifelong passion for the GAA 🇮🇪

Diarmuid Carney | BSc Physiotherapy | MSc Musculoskeletal Physiotherapy | MISCP

Say hello to Diarmuid, one of our expert physiotherapists with a passion for helping clients reach their rehabilitation goals 🙌

🎓 Background:
Diarmuid graduated from Leeds Beckett University in 2006 with a BSc in Physiotherapy and later completed a Master’s in Musculoskeletal Physiotherapy. He has gained extensive experience in both public and private practice, working in hospitals across Galway and Dublin.

💪 Special Interests:
Diarmuid is dedicated to all levels of rehabilitation and recently established a successful hip & knee osteoarthritis programme in Merlin Park. He’s committed to continuous professional development to ensure his clients receive the highest quality care.

🏐 Fun Fact:
Coming from a strong sporting background, Diarmuid represented Roscommon at all levels in Gaelic Football and was part of the Roscommon Senior team that won the Connacht Final in 2010! These days, he stays active playing and coaching with the Oranmore Maree GAA club.

Lorcán Galvin | Senior Chartered Physiotherapist & Clinic Owner

Meet Lorcán, chartered physiotherapist and Owner of Connacht Physio Clinic. Lorcán graduated from the University of Limerick in 2006 with a BSc in Physiotherapy, before going on to complete a Master’s degree in Musculoskeletal Physiotherapy at Glasgow Caledonian University in 2015.
With extensive experience across both public and private healthcare sectors in Ireland and Australia, he brings a wealth of knowledge to his patients. He specialises in spinal manual therapy, dry needling, and sports-specific rehabilitation.

Lorcán has worked with athletes from various codes including: Gaelic games, soccer, basketball, rugby and more. He is also highly experienced in post-surgical rehab, including joint replacements, tendon and ligament repairs, as well as occupational health to support safe returns to work.
