Can You Overtrain?
Yes you can!
Here’s the thing nobody talks about — it’s not just about how much you train. It’s about what your body is doing with that stress at a cellular level.
Some people are genetically predisposed to cortisol and adrenaline sensitivity.
What does that mean?
Your fight or flight response stays switched ON for longer than it should after exercise. Your nervous system is working overtime, long after the workout ends.
Then layer in hormone fluctuations — especially as we move through different life stages — and for some of us, that overflows the histamine bucket.
The result? High blood pressure, palpitations, anxiety, exhaustion that no amount of rest seems to fix. Sound familiar?
The fitness world tells you to push harder. Train more. No days off.
But if this is your blueprint — your DNA, your hormone landscape, your nervous system wiring — more isn’t more. More is DAMAGE.
I never got to run that marathon I thought I wanted! At the time I was gutted.
Now I understand my body so much better — and I genuinely believe it protected me from something I didn’t even know I needed protecting.
The good news? When we KNOW our predispositions, we can build the right foundations.
✔️ Training that works with your nervous system, not against it
✔️ Recovery protocols that actually calm the cortisol response
✔️ Understanding your hormonal cycle and adjusting intensity accordingly
✔️ Nutrition that supports histamine clearance
✔️ Nervous system regulation — breathwork, low-impact movement, sleep hygiene
Knowledge is the building block. Once you know your body’s language, everything changes.
Have you ever pushed hard with fitness and felt worse instead of better?
