My Letter to the Editor of the was published on October 24th expressing my fears for clients if CORU’s current attempt to regulate Psychotherapy and Counselling in Ireland progresses as is. Serendipitous timing as a letter from CORU’s CEO was also printed which is misleading and ignores the issues at hand being raised by myself and tens of thousands of therapists across the country, along with our professional representative bodies. The inaugural class of the Professional Cert in Working with Suicidal People has come to a close.

I had the absolute pleasure and honour to work with a group of my peers in casting a net wide and deep on the theory, research, practice and lived experiences of challenges people experience around suicide and how they how up in therapy. We explored all of this through collaborative experiential learning that invited everyone into an inclusive and exploratory space both personally and professionally.

Thank you to each participant for trusting in me and bringing their full selves to each day of the course. It was a wonderfully connected, relational, nourishing and engaging experience.

The courage, professionalism, curiosity and humanity of the participants shone through at each moment of this challenging but deeply rewarding .ie approved 24 hour CPD.

I couldn’t think of a better way to spend a few weekends in October and I have learned just as much in return. I feel grateful, privileged and thankful to have the opportunity to deliver this course, which is a labour of love for me.

I was delighted to see my letter to the editor of the published in today’s newspaper. CORU’s attempt to regulate psychotherapy in Ireland may lead to lives lost and an increase in suicide. I also mention a response I received from which was not acceptable and dismissive of the real risk to the public being the standards that need to be rolled back. 🚨🚨 I urge you to sign the petition to CORU (link in bio) if you are concerned about lower standards in Psychotherapy and Counselling.🚨🚨

‼️The government is regulating Psychotherapy and Counselling in Ireland to keep the public safe.

🛑They have proposed standards which lower the training and practice requirements, ignores evidence and tries to medicalise a profession based on human relationship.

🚫Human suffering can not be diagnosed, pathologised or categorised in our profession.

✋🏼They have ignored the public consultation feedback that was provided.

⚠️This will be unsafe for the public.
