Getting started with soapmaking or looking to improve your process? Here are a few key things to keep in mind:

1. Measure accurately
Always weigh your ingredients (especially lye and oils) precisely using a digital scale. Small differences can affect the safety and quality of your soap.

2. Control your temperature
Make sure your oils and lye solution are at a similar temperature before mixing. This helps achieve a smooth texture and prevents issues like separation.

3. Don’t rush trace
Blend slowly and stop at the right “trace” (when the mixture thickens slightly). Overmixing can make it difficult to pour and affect the final look of your soap.
