At Affinity Plus, men’s mental health is close to our hearts. That’s why this year, for Christmas Jumper Day, we are proud to raise funds for our local Men’s Shed – an incredible space that brings men together to talk, connect, and support one another.

🫁 Did you know that November is lung cancer awareness month? Lung cancer is one of the most common types of cancer in Ireland.

✅ Know the signs:
• Persistent cough (more than 3 weeks)
• Shortness of breath
• Chest pain
• Unexplained weight loss
• Fatigue

🚭 Prevention matters: Avoid smoking, limit exposure to secondhand smoke, and speak with your doctor about screening if you are at risk.

This special day is a time to remember and celebrate the lives of those we have loved and lost. Whether through quiet reflection, sharing memories, or creating a small altar (ofrenda), it’s a moment to connect with the past and keep those memories alive. 🧡

In homecare, we are privileged to hear stories of lives well lived, to support families through moments of remembrance, and to walk beside those who carry cherished memories of loved ones.

One of our lovely carers sent us this photo over the weekend — pumpkins and carving tools all set for some seasonal fun!

There’s so much you can do with a pumpkin — and it doesn’t have to involve carving. Try painting, using markers, stickers, googly eyes, or even fabric scraps to decorate. It’s an easy, safe, and creative activity to enjoy with a loved one at home. 🧡

Need a bit of guidance? Use stencils as a helpful template for painting or outlining shapes!

Pumpkin decorating is a wonderful way to encourage engagement, creativity, and gentle fun — a simple, festive way to help someone special celebrate the spooky season. 👻🎨
