Cleanse FAQ
1. Who designed the programme? A dedicated team of clinical herbalists, naturopaths, functional medicine practitioners and nutritionists.
2. How long does the cleanse last? The herbal cleanse is a 3 week programme which can be repeated.
3. What does it do? Herbal tinctures are tailored to promote optimal functioning of the body’s detoxification pathways. Organs supported are the bowel, liver, kidneys, lymph and adrenals. Our formulas are medicinal strength, of the highest quality and undergo rigorous safety testing to ensure purity and effectiveness. You will be provided with 6 weeks’ worth of herbal tinctures -3 bottles, each lasting two weeks. Nutrient dense recipes ensure all minerals, amino acids, vitamins and trace elements which are required for safe detox are provided.
4. Will I lose weight during this programme? Although weight loss isn’t our primary goal, may people with excess weight report significant weight loss after following the 6 week programme.
5. Will the foods be easy to obtain? Yes and we have helpful tips about where to purchase them in our package. Most foods can be brought in local supermarkets but there are a couple that will require a trip to the healthfood shop.
6. Will the recipes cost a lot to prepare? No we have created recipes that are budget friendly.
7. Can you give me an example of what I’ll be eating? Breakfast- overnight oats, smoothies, waffles, pancakes. Lunch delicious and hearty soups. Dinners, Thai curries, salmon with veg, grilled chicken with roast veg. We have even included healthy cleanse friendly snacks.
8. Is it suitable for vegans and vegetarians? Yes it’s suitable for meat eaters and vegans alike. Although some of the recipes contain fish or chicken there are plenty of options and omissions to create vegan/vegetarian recipes.
9. What is the difference between a detox cleanse and fasting? Fasting involves significant calorie restrictions and sometimes only consuming juices or water. Whilst we respect the value of this type of cleanse, we have opted to nourish the body with the nutrients it requires for efficient detoxification. Your liver requires amino acids (protein) and many trace elements, vitamins and minerals to carry out its 600 jobs. The liver, when functioning optimally detoxes 99% of the body’s toxins. It does this through 2 phases.
Nutrient requirements for Phase 1 function
Antioxidants Vitamin C, Vitamin E and Beta Carotene are necessary to mitigate the high oxidation and free radical production.
Vitamins B1,2,3,6,12 and folic acid are necessary co-factors for enzyme function.
Copper, zinc, magnesium, manganese, iron and molybdenum are required to manufacture enzymes
Nutrient requirements for Phase 2 function
Vitamins B1,2,3,5,6,12 and folic acid
Vitamin C, Vitamin E, Beta carotene
Amino Acids: glycine (non-essential and converted from essential amino acid threonine), methionine (essential), glutamic acid (non essential), Aspartic acid
Minerals: Magnesium, Selenium, Zinc, Molybdenum, Germanium
NAC (N-Acetyl Cysteine) converts to cysteine and raises Glutathione
Brassica family (broccoli, cauliflower, Brussels sprouts)
10. What can i expect to feel? Amazing! By the end of the cleanse expect increased energy, improved sleep, better sense of wellbeing, clear skin- even some rejuvenation! During the cleanse there are a few who may on the first couple of days encounter detoxifications symptoms such as headache.
11. How do manage detoxification symptoms? Whilst we do our best to help minimise any detox symptoms, should you find you are having headaches or other symptoms you will find helpful and effective tips in your cleanse guidelines.
