Painting alongside a little client this morning...
I'm happy to sit next to, nearby, silently, chatting, playing or painting..
More often than not, I get asked "why aren't you painting with me?"
Exactly.
You'd be mad not to!

Mirroring is a way to grow the therapeutic relationship, especially with younger clients.
Soothing...

Imagery speaks louder than words...

A simple way in; cut and stick collage.
The first time attending therapy can be hard, and *Art* Therapy can often feel like an extra pressure to perform! Or at least that's what I hear from clients..
So in a very non directive way, I pass a few suggestions of where to begin..
Magazines scissors and glue.
No pressure to draw or paint.
And yet the possibilities are endless and outcomes unique to the individual. The start of a visual expressive journey...
