Killybegs Family Health Centre – Acute Respiratory Assessment Clinics

The practice will operate scheduled in-person respiratory clinics to support patients with acute respiratory symptoms during the winter period.

Clinic Period:
📅 Monday 8th December 2025 to Friday 15th February 2026
⏱️ 2 hours per week (times may change weekly).

Conditions assessed include:
• Cough
• Fever
• Sore throat
• Breathing or chest symptoms
• Seasonal viral respiratory illnesses

Stay protected this winter – the flu vaccine is FREE for all eligible groups.

✅ Who can get the flu vaccine for free?

Everyone aged 60 and older

All children aged 2–17 years

Pregnant women (at any stage of pregnancy)

Healthcare workers

Residents in nursing homes or long-term care facilities

People living with or caring for someone with a chronic health condition

People in regular contact with pigs, poultry or waterfowl

Anyone 6 months and older with an underlying health condition, such as:

Cancer

Heart, liver, kidney or lung disease (including COPD, cystic fibrosis, moderate–severe asthma)

Diabetes and other metabolic disorders

Chronic neurological conditions (e.g. MS)

Weakened immune system (due to illness or treatment)

BMI ≥ 40

Down Syndrome

Serious mental health conditions

Children with neurodevelopmental disorders (e.g. cerebral palsy)

Children on long-term aspirin therapy

Who should get it?

All children aged 2–17 years

Especially important for children with chronic conditions (e.g. asthma, diabetes, heart or neurological conditions).

How is it given?

Nasal Spray (LAIV) for most children

Injection (IIV) available when nasal spray is not suitable

Some children may need 2 doses, 4 week apart.
