Every year, on Christmas Eve, my mum would light a beautiful large candle in the front window of our home. It is tradition!
But why is it tradition?
Do you know the history and reasons why we light a candle in our windows at Christmas?
I have a few interesting facts below 👇🏼

The origin of Christmas window candles dates back to the 15th century.
The appearance of a lit candle in the window often signified that a home was open and welcoming to those passing through and that there would be food and shelter available.

The recognition of loved ones was another reason that many once lit traditional candles in their windows during the festive season.
A candle in the window could represent a silent prayer for the return of an absent family member, or it can be in honour of a family member who has passed.

Catholic families during the times of Penal Laws would display a candle to let priests know that there home was a safe haven.

Religious Reasons:
For Christians, a candle is lit to represent the star of Bethlehem, guiding the Magi to the stable where Jesus was born.

Christians also consider Jesus as the “light of the world,“ and they light candles during Christmas to celebrate the birth of the “light of the world;”

For those of Jewish faith, a menorah in the window is a Jewish custom symbolising the miracle of Chanukah -when a single jug of oil burnt for eight days.

The tradition of burning a candle in the window has survived for centuries and is something many families around the world continue to do.
Will you light a candle in your window this Christmas Eve? 🕯

To all my amazing clients and friends…
As I finish up a magical year in the salon for 2025 I just want to thank each and every one of you for your support this year!

Some of the many benefits your Leah’s Cinnamon products can bring;

🫁 Respiratory:
Pop a few drops if your diffuser to help clear the air and support easier breathing.
Due to its warming effect it clears stuffy airways and reduces airborne pathogens

🦠 Germs:
Cinnamon is strongly antimicrobial and can help inhibit bacteria and fungi.
Again use your diffuser or just spray to purify the air.

👶🏼 Anti Ageing:
Cinnamon contains high levels of antioxidants which help neutralize free radicals, protect cells from oxidative stress and support healthy aging.
So burning your cinnamon candle or using it in your diffuser helps keep you young 😉

🧘‍♀️ Instant comfort:
Its warm, spicy aroma helps create a grounding, relaxing atmosphere.

🌬️ Freshens the air naturally:
Perfect for making your home smell clean, inviting, and festive.

🪄Mood-boosting magic:
Many people find cinnamon uplifting and comforting, especially during colder months.

Check out my ‘Festive Corner’ on my website for further information on all my Cinnamon Essential Oil products.
If you have any questions please feel free to DM or email me.

Enjoy ✨

To help get all your Christmas shopping finished (or started) I will be in the salon Monday 15th of December
6:00pm - 9:00pm

If you have hinted to your partner, pals or family that you’d like to have some of my products for Christmas please send them this post and let them know.

The shelves will be fully stocked with my
✨Festive Candles
✨The full range of Essential Oil Candles,
✨Mist Diffusers
✨Essential Oil Mist Sprays
✨Essentail Oils
✨Gift Sets

And I will also have Shannen’s Essentail Oil Lip Balms which are just flying out as stocking fillers.

Just drop me a DM if you need the eircode.

✨ Click & Collect Box ✨
Our ‘click and collect’ box is also been a massive hit and that will be available any-day or time for December.

This is also ideal for last minute gifts, picking up essentials for yourself or late night pickups when all shops are closed.

🛍️How to Click & Collect:
Simply order your products.
Click the option for ‘Click & Collect’
Email me with the day/time that suits you for pick up.
All details for collection will be emailed to you.
🤳 Shopping from your Phone:
If you click ‘more payment options’ at the ‘Order Summary’ section that will skip the postage fee.
(Working on that to be more user friendly)

*To avoid any disappointment, please keep in mind my full time job is working in treatments so my emails can only be checked at certain times throughout the day.
I’ll always aim for same day delivery or collection but sometimes I simply can’t 😉

‼️Please do not arrive at the salon without an appointment OR without arranging a day/time for ‘click & collect’
Knocking on the door in the hope of getting me usually ends up bringing disturbance to my client.

I also just wanted to take this time to thank everyone for their love and support this year and every year.
I love what I do because of each and everyone of you! ❤️

Thanks for everything,
Leah x

Why support your local Irish Businesses this Christmas:

✨You’re Supporting their Innovation –
As a small business I focus on creating products that aren’t always driven by popular trends. I like to focus on helping solve problems in a way that I can.
For example my Lavender candle to help with insomnia, stress and anxiety. Or my Bereavement candle for those needing comfort and support during the darkest of days.
There are so many unique products/services created by crafters, artists and sole traders and these are people who are set on making the world a better place the way that they can.

✨You’re Supporting their Families –
When you buy from a small business, you’re often supporting a family behind it.
You’re the reason a mum or dad is able to be at home with their children, or that a family is able to pay toward their mortgage or to send their children to dance lessons, gymnastics or baking lessons.

✨ You’re Supporting The Irish Economy –
Many small Irish businesses have products that are handmade by their owners right here in Ireland and that source their materials in this country from other local suppliers.

✨You’re Supporting Good Business Ethics-
Rather than buying from larger companies where the source of their materials are unknown or where the factories and working conditions are not known, you can support quality products and eco-friendly materials that are scoured here from Ireland.

✨ You’re Supporting Charities and Sponsorship –
Many small businesses give back. Small business owners contribute to their communities through sponsorship, raffle prizes, hosting charity events and donations throughout the year.
When you support small businesses, you’re helping them to pay it forward.

So, In a world where you can shop anywhere-do shop local.
We have so many creative, gifted and talented people on this island and so many have given me huge support and guidance over the years so like every year I will make sure to choose local ⭐️

Make sure to to tag your favourite Irish Business below and help get the good word of their great work out there.

On Tuesday evening I had the pleasure of hosting a workshop for

On the evening, I introduced the ladies to a library of Essential Oils and we smelt all the smells 😊
I spoke of the Therapeutic benefits of each individual oil and how to simply incorporate them into their every day life, wether to soothe restless and sleepless nights, to help with clarity and concentration or to lift the energy and to support and comfort in grief.

I want to thank all the ladies who came and made me feel so welcome. Listening to your stories was heartbreaking and I’m so sorry for the pain and loss you have gone through and trying to navigate.
Please always be gentle to yourself and walk slowly with your grief 🩷

Another special thank you to Trish and Linda for inviting me and organising the whole event. The place was so inviting and comfortable.

Im going to leave some more information on this wonderful charity below:
is to empower families to navigate the grieving process with dignity and resilience. Through our programs, support groups, and online resources, we strive to create a safe and nurturing environment where individuals can find solace and connection.

At A Little Lifetime Foundation, we believe that every baby’s life, no matter how brief, is significant and worthy of remembrance. We are dedicated to honouring the legacies of these precious little ones and supporting families as they navigate their grief.

Dates to be confirmed at the end of this month so please keep an eye on socials for that information.

Looking forward to seeing familiar faces and horribly some new ones.
