Most new runners ignore these things… until it’s too late😅

✅Start small - don’t jump straight into 5kms, long speed sessions or hard tempo sessions. An easy “run walk” protocol is a great way to start
✅Pick footwear that suits your running gait and foot posture. A running analysis is a good way to find this out
✅Use the 10% rule when increasing your running distances each week. It’s easy to get sucked into increasing your distances by 2 or 3 kilometres each week at the start but this can lead to tendon injuries and stress reactions.

Most back pain isn’t about something being “out of place” — the majority of the time it’s about a body that’s not moving or loading enough.

👉 Your back LOVES movement👉 It responds to strength👉 It adapts when you give it the right input

If all you’re doing is resting, stretching, or avoiding certain movements… you might be keeping yourself stuck.

Start simple:
✅Move your spine daily (flex, extend, rotate)
✅Build strength gradually (especially through full ranges)
✅Don’t fear a bit of discomfort — your back is more resilient than you think

You don’t need a perfect chair, a designer mattress or an anti-aging potion! You need a more capable body.

There is no better feeling than getting back on the roads. Here are some things to avoid if you want to get back running safely🙌

📈Keep your weekly volume low to begin with and try not to increase your volume by more than 10% each week

💪Don’t neglect your lower body strengthening now that you’re back running. It’s important for running economy and injury prevention

🤕Don’t run through swelling or prolonged pain. You will only make things worse.
