Recently the Department of Health launched the first series of pharmacist prescribing in Ireland. This service allows suitability trained and qualified pharmacists to prescribe certain dispensary medications for eight common conditions.

These 8 conditions are;

Allergic Rhinitis
Cold sores
Conjunctivitis
Impetigo
Oral Thrush
Shingles
Uncomplicated UTI/Cystitis
Vulvovaginal Thrush

The DOH hope to add to this list over the next few years. This scheme should ease the workload on doctors and allow them to be more accessible for more complex cases.

Our pharmacies are hoping to start operating the service from mid February 2026.

We are recruiting a Pharmacy Sales Assistant to join our team here at McFadden's Pharmacy.

Responsibilities:

▪️Provide quality customer service to each and every customer
▪️Provide information to customers on various OTC products and services
▪️Merchandising stock
▪️Comfortable using computerised equipment such as cash registers and credit card machines

Must be:

▪️Friendly, sociable and enjoy helping people
▪️Available to work weekdays and weekends
▪️Have a sense of urgency and efficiency
▪️Be reliable, punctual and trustworthy
▪️Excellent communication skills
▪️Comfortable working in a fast paced environment
