Unfortunately I couldn't attend the conference this weekend. Glad to see Dr Rod Whiteley from Aspetar, calling out these passive practices. "Physio's do every flavour of bu****it". Bu****it treatments, lead to bu****it results. As an industry we need to stop the 💩💩!

BU****IT ALERT 🚨 More absolute bo****ks information being fed to the public domain. This infographic, was published with very poor quality research and adds to the fear mongering behaviour of the industry. Kids with heavier school bags who travelled to school by car, reported higher incidences of back pain. Kids who walked to school with heavy backpacks reported lower incidences of back pain. This is also true for the lighter backpacks in these studies. So don't go out and buy expensive specialist back packs recommended by some shoddy research. Maybe Get your kids up and active, encourage physical activity. It's a much smarter investment.

Great infographic as always by , RICE is the worst acronym to ever have been adopted by the sports medicine industry. And this study adds more weight to this argument, the most recent hamstring rehabilitation from aspetar introduces early loading. Askling protocol etc and even we see certain types of ankle fractures and Achilles ruptures, all utilising early loading yet there is still this idea of delaying loading, RICE was an opinion piece that was followed up with poor quality studies. The message gets lost, I've had clients who are resting 6 months down the line, that's not resting , that's retiring. GET UP, GET OUT, GET ACTIVE. If you want an acronym use POLICE.

I'm going to be devils advocate after reading the comments section of this video, people are providing bu****it arguments. So an awful lot of people are looking at disease and death too simplistic. That belief that stress caused death etc is totally flawed. Robert Sapolskys work tells us that stress is not an individual risk factor for disease or death. Actually in medicine there are very few individual risk factors for anything, and the problem with most of our treatment approaches is we look at one our two risk factors and eradicate that. There is evidence to suggest that stress exacerbates and is a contributing risk factor to these lifestyle and inflammatory diseases. Those that are gonna dismiss this Ted talk without reading the papers are doing a disservice to science. And I guarantee it's the more scientific minds there that will make the correlation and causation argument. Science and especially neuroscience isn't black and white, it's gives us the best explanation that our experimental design allows. I read the comments and everyone is looking for the golden pill and magic bullet. It's doesn't exist, but stress is an established risk factor, maybe changing a belief about it is another point of attack in these lifestyle diseases.

I'm delighted to have been able to help this amazing man from Westport to Oughterard. He is currently 75 km from finishing this heroic challenge. He is currently sitting second in his category in the Irish Ultra challenge, where he is cycling 1100 Km. He is on about three hours sleep in the last 2 days. And is still going strong. John is attempting to break the Irish Solo record, to finish this in sub 68 hours. He is well on target.

John is raising money for a very Special and Brave Little Man. Fionn is currently fighting an extremely rare cancer Neuroblastoma. And all proceeds will be going to help Fionn and his family through a very difficult time. Every little helps folks, so dig deep.

On the 27th August 2017, Irish ultra cyclist John MacCormack will take on his biggest challenge yet - to break a national record. John will attempt to complete a mind-boggling 1,100km NON-STOP around Ireland to try and break the solo Irish record of 68 hours! John's Irish record attempt will ai...

Really enjoyed being part of a great event yesterday! I think a big well done to all who attended, for hosting and for organising such a progressive event! Injury is not something that people like or want to talk about but I think it's speaks volumes for this group that they as coaches want to learn about injury rehabilitation and potentially step to reduce injury risk! Shout to and unbelieveable presentations and it was great to learn from these guys! 📸 👍🏿☺️
