Upon grey mist and gentle rain,
The falling leaves greeted her,
Cascading along the lane.

She warned of colder days ahead,
As the earth takes a welcome rest,
Branches relinquishing each last leaf,
Becoming gradually undressed.

Whispers of the winter's breath,
Trailing softly through the trees,
Nature wraps in quietude,
A hush carried on the breeze.

The sky in muted shades of grey,
A canopy stretched above,
Reminds us of the fleeting light
And cosy darker nights, we love.
