Alexander Technique Summer School

Alexander Technique Summer School The summer school is based on the time proven principals of mindfulness and the Alexander Technique. For more information please see www.isatt.ie.

The Change your Habits - Change your Life summer school is about developing the arts of mindfulness and presence under pressure. Between every stimulus and response, there is a tiny time space. Our brains need that time to decide how to act and to trigger our response to the stimulus. When we focus our attention on this space we can make conscious decisions about how to respond. By learning the art of 'inhibiting', you make time to create choice and gain more control over what happens next. Do you ever wish you could stop automatic or reflex responses? Tensing when you hear a particular sound or voice, or finding yourself in certain circumstances? Or wishing you never said what you just said, or do what you just did? Automatic responses also arise when we enter familiar territory. We take on postures and tensions in response to our environments. This is especially noticeable in musicians who are "shaped" by their instruments, people working on computers and driving cars. When we respond automatically or unconsciously for long periods of time, we can cause chronic muscle tension that eventually results in discomfort, pain, and even injury. Whichever, our enjoyment and performance in life, work, and play, becomes limited. These kinds of responses are the foundations of almost universal habits, but they can be changed by learning how to be present and how to inhibit. Being present, and inhibiting works in every situation whether it is sports, living, or just being. For years, high performers in all activities from sports, music, acting and management have been ensuring their success by applying these principals to their lives and work. Our team of highly experienced Alexander Technique Teachers will lead the workshops in a wide range of activities including inhibiting, directing, breathing, posture, working with computers, driving, dancing, music making, walking, running, swimming, yoga, voice and public speaking, and managing performance nerves. About ISATT

ISATT is Ireland's leading society of Alexander Technique Teachers and is dedicated to promoting the discoveries of F M Alexander. We help people implement life-changing habits that give them a new lease of life, alleviating, if not eliminating pain caused by chronic muscle tension, freeing up their breathing and introducing more fun and ease into their lives.

The Alexander Technique has helped all kinds of sportsmen and women, both at amateur levels and in training for high-pressure competitions. Since the way you use your body can dramatically affect the efficiency of your performance, the more aware you are of your actions, the greater the control you will have over your body. Please share with any friends & family involved in sports that we could help..
