This lady has been living with Frontal Fibrosing Alopecia (FFA) – a form of scarring hair loss that most commonly affects women and causes a gradual recession of the frontal hairline, temples, and sometimes eyebrows. Unfortunately, once hair loss occurs with FFA, regrowth is not usually possible, which can be emotionally challenging for many clients.

My focus is always on restoring confidence, comfort, and natural appearance 💚

For her solution, we fitted a beautiful natural, clean blonde bob, carefully we cut to frame her face perfectly. The result is soft, realistic, and completely undetectable – allowing her to feel like herself again.

This was an emotional appointment for us both 🤍
This lovely client has sadly lost her hair for the second time due to chemotherapy. After growing it back beautifully, we once again had to make the brave decision to cut it back.

With a family wedding coming up this week, it was so important that she felt like herself again. We took time to talk through what she wanted, how she wanted to feel, and what would give her confidence on such a special day.

We fitted a beautiful multi-tonal human hair wig, leaving the length in for now so it feels soft, feminine and versatile for the occasion. We may take an inch off in the New Year, once she’s had time to enjoy it fully.

She was absolutely delighted with the quality, movement and feel, especially after previously wearing a synthetic wig. Seeing her relax, and reconnect with herself is exactly why we do what we do.

Ever wondered what your scalp really looks like under the trichoscope? 👀

This image shows the results from a customised scalp health check and microdermabrasion scalp treatment here at Andrea Galvin Scalp & Wig Clinic.

🔬 Using a trichoscope, I analysed the scalp up close — before the treatment, you can clearly see buildup, congestion, and dead skin, which can block follicles and affect healthy hair growth.
After a deep cleanse, gentle microdermabrasion exfoliation, and an energising tonic, the scalp appears much clearer, smoother, and more balanced — allowing follicles to breathe and hair to thrive 🌿

This treatment helps to:

This lovely client came to us after noticing what seemed like a receding hairline , which we identified as frontal fibrosing alopecia. Her main concern was thinning around the sides, especially noticeable when tying her hair up for work.

We created a customised hair topper, tailored perfectly for her size and fit. A soft fringe was added to frame her face and provide natural coverage at the sides.

She’ll now take some time to get comfortable attaching and removing her topper at home, and we’ll see her again soon to refine the cut and add soft layers for a flawless blend with her own hair.

💚 Hair loss conditions such as frontal fibrosing alopecia may be covered through the Medical Card or PRSI Hair Replacement Benefit.
We’re always happy to guide clients through the process and look after the paperwork.

I know how tough hair loss during chemotherapy can be, so I’m here to help. On Thursday 16th October at 2:00pm I’ll be The Mid-Western Cancer Foundation located at 📍 Mungret college to share scalp and hair advice for anyone going through treatment.

Why September is the Worst Month for Hair Shedding 🍂

Many people notice that their hair sheds more in September than at any other time of the year. This is due to seasonal shedding, a completely natural process. During summer, our hair often enters a resting phase (called the telogen phase) to protect the scalp from UV damage. As the seasons change and we move into autumn, these resting hairs naturally fall out — which is why shedding can feel more noticeable right now.

The good news? This type of hair loss is usually temporary and nothing to panic about. By focusing on gentle washing, weekly deep conditioning, scalp massages to boost circulation, and eating a nutrient-rich diet with iron, zinc, and protein, you can support stronger regrowth and maintain healthy strands.
