When we worry, we focus on the negatives, look around and you will find positives in everyday life.
When we focus on the positives, over a period of time , our lives can become beautiful.

Be careful what you tolerate because you are teaching people how to treat you.

Am I the same person?
Am I the same person I was last week or the same person I was last month, before the coronavirus struck Ireland?
If I am the same person, then why am I feeling so different, so stressed and so shaken. Why am I continually worrying, finding it difficult to concentrate, difficult to put or keep a routine in place and difficult to keep up my self care routine of simple walks and meditation?
If I allow my mind to be filled and infected by negative media, the continual intrusion of 24 hour news updates and yes even the intrusion of social media, my minds will be filled with negative news, negative thoughts and negative energy.
Our bodies will always always respond to the thoughts and images present in our minds. So if we are filling our minds with negative news then our bodies will automatically become tense, nervous and anxious.
If we want to change our feelings we must manage the information we allow into our minds.
Limit our time listening to the news, limit our time on social media. Choose the people we interact with so that we limit time spent with negative people when possible.
We have been preaching these rules to our children for years. Well now it's time for us to put these rules into practice and also take the opportunity to role model to our children ways to manage our thoughts.
Focus on happy positive activity.
Listen to music, do some gardening, take a walk, write a letter, meditate, read a book, do that task we have been meaning to do for some time now and get personal satisfaction when it is complete.
So my answer to myself is I am the same person but I have been distracted by negative thinking for quite a number of days and I now need to rebalance my mind and my body by changing what I focus my mind on.

What is surrounding us right now?
I spent time this morning reading updates and filling my mind with information which, while important, also imported unmeasured amounts of negative energy to my mind and my body.
This activity of updating myself on the national and world events left me tense, anxious and worrying about the future.
Then I heard the birds singing and the gentle breeze outside my open kitchen window. The sound attracted my other senses so I looked and saw the water flowing in the river, the colours of the trees and nature on the mountains opposite and the birds busy building their nests
I moved outside and felt the breeze on my face, and the fresh air in my lungs, touched the leaves on the trees and smelled the fresh spring flowers.
When I stay present to my immediate surroundings using my senses, the tension, anxiety and worry all reduce greatly.
I know I am lucky to live in a beautiful scenic area, but we can use the smallest piece of nature, our back gardens, window boxes, house plants, kitchen herbs.
So let's take a little time to look around us in this moment and spend a few minutes to listen, touch, see, smell and taste(if edible such as a kitchen herb) and allow nature to bring balance to our minds and our bodies.
If we spend just one minute on each of our senses we will create a short mindfulness practice which we can introduce as part of a daily self care routine.

Basic healthy routine!
I gave a quick mention to sleep and sleep hygiene yesterday.
A simple step which I find very helpful is to get up early enough to allow plenty of time so I can wash, eat and travel to work in a relaxed manner.
If I can start my day with a relaxed manner this can have a positive affect on the rest of my day where as if I get up late and start my day in a rush that rush seems to continue all day long.
This of course links back to the theme yesterday of getting to bed on time. Good night all😴

Daily Routine!!
Many of us have been thrown out of our regular routine as a result of the Corona virus.
I find the most important part of my routine across my whole day is actually setting a time at which I go to bed.
If I go to bed at a time that allows me get 8 hours sleep then I have the opportunity to create a good day for myself, as I wake up fresh, felling well rested and ready for my day.
Over coming days I intend to get back to posting a few pieces of basics for good self care in these difficult times.
