INCOMING RANT ๐Ÿ’ฅ๐Ÿ’ฅ๐Ÿ’ฅ

If your Therapist, Physio or Doctor tell you to "just rest it, it will come right" ignore them!

Inaction solves nothing and this is the dismissive, lazy and outdated recommendations still been given to people.

You need answers, a plan of action AND somebody to guide you through it. Don't settle for hap hazard treatment because after resting, the problem will still be there!!!!!!

Demand more and find the right people to get you there.

PAIN is a complex issue.

When we look at pain outside of the typical injury scenario, we need to really delve deep and look at the bigger picture.

PAIN is information and your body is asking for balance.

It will start with a whisper, that gradually gets louder until you have no choice but to listen! ๐Ÿ’ฃ

MRI Imaging is useful, but is not the whole picture and is only one dimensional. It scares you into believing you are forever broken ๐Ÿค•

You look for a quick fix, someone to โ€˜take the pain awayโ€™. Lay blame - a bulging disc, genetics, arthritis, previous surgery, too busy, too tired โ€ฆ. Avoidance & excuses ๐Ÿ˜ฎโ€๐Ÿ’จ

CHOOSE YOUR HARD -Yes its tough, to make time for you, but if you don't do it- nobody will. It takes work and dedication but I know which hard I choose.

Where recovery really lies is in what you donโ€™t want to face!

Wellbeing, health, fitness, body composition, habits, mindset, old beliefs, accountability, ACTION!

Various therapies help to reduce the pain but it keeps coming back. The Pain doesnโ€™t necessarily mean damage - but your brain now thinks it does. It tries to protect you through fear and limit your movement, your quality of life dwindles.

What your brain really needs is reassurance through stimulis, graded load exposure, skill development, strength, movement, variation, consistency, nervous system regulation. balance, presence, showing up for you.

Rehab is not a set of exrcises. Rehab IS Training. Training for life, the things that matter to you and the health to enjoy it. ๐Ÿฅฐ

WHAT IS PERFORMANCE COACHING?

Some Clients need more than a few rehab exercises or soft tissue massage. They have been in pain or have had reduced performance capacity for a long time....

I used to be that person!! Debilitating back pain, reoccurring injuries, frustrated, unable to train. I tried more therapies than i'd like to admit. Nobody could help me because the industry is set up for fast consultations, reliance on soft tissue release, lack of client education, poor rehab with poor compliance, focus on symptoms - not the real cause! ๐Ÿงฉ No solutions, no roadmap, no guidance, no expectations.

What were my biggest aggravators?

1. Stress/Mindset - new mum, post natal depression, busy, perfectionist, hard on myself

2. Training habits - repetive training & overload, not listening to my body, constantly stretching like "Stretch Atmstrong"๐Ÿคทโ€โ™€๏ธ

3. Lifestyle - driving and sitting for work, burning the candle at both ends

So how did I recover to full health, active and pain free?

1. Wellbeing - different stages of life throw up different challenges. I had to face this head on and learn how to breath again, to slow down and be present. Make time for myself and stop being so hard on myself - still a work in progress but awareness creates space for change๐Ÿง˜โ€โ™€๏ธ

2. Train like I wasnt competing in the Olympics๐Ÿ˜… ๐Ÿคฃ train hard, rest, fuel my body, vary my workouts. Get strong. The best thing I ever did was join the gym. I always played sports and remained active, but strength is the key to health and longevity as long as you train wisely. No olympics here ๐ŸŽ–

3. Dynamic Movement - gamechanger for movement mechanics and mobility. I wish everybody could do this one thing instead of stretching. Dynamic movement opens joints, creates space for the tissues to be effective and adds to long term gains. No more aimless stretching for me!!

4. Make all of the above part of my lifestyle - consistency is key โœ…๏ธ

Thats what I want to give my Clients. A realistic solution and roadmap to a healthy, active life. Some people need to unlearn and embrace the hard before they can learn and grow. Thats where coaching comes in.

THE TRUTH ABOUT REHAB....

- Anything worth doing is generally hard!
- Change only comes about when sufficiently challenged!
- You have to do the work - there are no magic Physios, Therapists, Chiros or pills!
- Your small daily habits are what make the big difference in the longterm!
- Think about the long game!
- If previous clinics have failed you, it's because they either didn't take the time to figure out the true cause OR your rehab was not sufficient to meet your life/sport demands OR you were not fully committed!!!!!
- Repetition & consistency!
