January is Glaucoma Awareness Month

What Is Glaucoma?
Glaucoma is a disease that is caused by damage to the optic nerve within the eye.
This can happen when the pressure inside the eye is too high or when there is insufficient blood flow within the optic nerve.

Risk Factors
• Age
• Ethnicity
• Family History
• Other health conditions and certain medications

Symptoms to look out for
• Severe pain/headaches in or around the eyes
• Nausea
• Seeing coloured rings around bright lights
• Hazy or misty vision

What can be done to help?
It’s important to attend regular eye exams!
Certain tests can help to identify early signs of Glaucoma
