Are you a parent or caregiver of a school-aged child, a young person who goes to school, or a school principal, administrator, or teacher involved in setting or applying school shoe or uniform guidelines?

Researchers and health professionals are inviting you to take part in a study exploring why school shoe guidelines are set and what impact they may have on children and schools. Your experiences and perspectives can help inform future evidence-based guidance.

Recently a new patient attended Happy Feet Podiatry Clinic for the first time with a thickened nail. As part of their medical history they advised that they were prescribed blood thinners and in anticipation of the appointment didn't take their medication as prescribed. This is a massive NO NO from our perspective. We are qualified health care professionals and have lots of ways to migate the risks associated with thinner blood such as careful treating techniques, haemostatic dressings and appropriate aftercare if required. Blood thinners are life saving medication and should never be stopped on your own accord - the risk to your health is too great. Instead keep taking your medication, visit a clinician who is appropriately trained and communicate the medication you are taking with them. They can easily work with this.

I had a good chat with the patient and advised them to NEVER stop taking their medication unless told to do so by their healthcare professional. The treatment was carried out painlessly and effectively. The patient was pleasantly surprised how easily the condition was managed and realised there was no reason to delay seeking treatment - they had put the appointment off for quite some time.

There is a valuable lesson here so spread the word with loved ones - if you are prescribed blood thinners DO NOT stop taking them on your own initiative - it really could save a life.

On the 5th of January 2017, Happy Feet Podiatry Clinic opened its doors for the very first time. Today, 9 years later we are back in action after the Christmas break ready to start into 2026.

Thank you so much to all the incredible people who have supported this venture through the years. Looking forward to welcoming back regular and familiar faces while also meeting new patients for the first time. Forever thankful and grateful for the support as without you Happy Feet Podiatry Clinic wouldn't be what it is today.

Happy Feet Podiatry Clinic is working hard behind the scenes to make sure that we can deliver quicker access to our service by introducing a second Podiatrist - Mairéad to our team, an efficient reception team to manage your appointments and the most up to date treatments such as Curacorn, 3D printed orthoses and nail surgery with phenolisation as well as routine care to keep your feet happy and healthy long into the new year.
