🌻 This complimentary Sunflower Lanyard is issued to all members of Chronic Pain Ireland. The card is a specific Hidden Disabilities Sunflower for those living with ‘chronic pain’ and helps make an invisible condition a bit more visible.

💡 We often face barriers daily, including a lack of understanding and negative attitudes, and the Sunflower lanyard discreetly identifies that we may need support, help, or just a little more time in shops, transport, or public spaces.

🌎 The Sunflower is a globally recognised symbol for non-visible disabilities, also known as hidden disabilities or invisible disabilities. The lanyard is very useful when ✈️🚉 travelling or at those times where we may need a little extra time or some assistance. Some of our members have reported a greater level of assistance in a hospital setting, also.

Winter can make pain feel heavier — cold weather, low energy, and shorter days often push us to retreat. While rest matters, shrinking our world can increase fear, stiffness, and pain over time.

✨ Try these gentle tips instead:

1️⃣ Think tiny, not big – One small, manageable action a day is enough. Tiny steps build confidence and help your body feel safe to move again.

2️⃣ Pace with purpose – Balance activity and rest, and stop before pain flares. Pacing helps avoid the boom-and-bust cycle that can increase pain.

3️⃣ Do what you enjoy – Movement doesn’t have to be exercise. Gentle, enjoyable activities reduce fear and support both body and mind.

4️⃣ Expect setbacks – Setbacks are normal. Kindness and flexibility matter more than perfection.

5️⃣ Choose expansion over avoidance – Ask yourself if an action helps your world grow or shrink. Even small acts of courage still count.
