I'm absolutely excited to take the next step on my CranioSacral Therapist journey. This week I attend CST for Conception Pregnancy & Birth (CCPB) at Upledger CranioSacral Institute with the world renowned Carol J McLellan https://www.carolmclellan.com/. This amazing course will along with additional requirements allow me to treat infants from birth. By learning how to incorporate CST into the birth process I’ll not only help very deserving moms, be able to give infants the best possible opportunity to begin their lives free of restriction and prepare them to grow into well-adjusted children and adults. The Category II subluxation complex is the most prevalent subluxation pattern most of you see in your adult population. This due to the fact that most patients seek chiropractic care when they become symptomatic and unless their primary subluxation complex was corrected in childhood, the years of compensation will most likely lead to the Category II complex
Due to the global nature of the compensatory changes that occur over the years, the patient will often complain of a myriad of structural issues. We caution you to not try and chase each issue as a separate problem but understand that without proper SI weight bearing biomechanics and neurological input, resolution of these compensatory issues will be more difficult if not impossible.
Take some time 3-5 visits to address the SI weight bearing issue before addressing the extremity issues.

Fundamentally, if you neglect anything that requires maintenance it will develop a problem. Problems develop silently until enough damage occurs to trigger a symptom or crisis. Unfortunately the crisis or symptom may not occur until significant or even permanent damage has occurred.
In the human body problems develop silently until enough damage accumulates to fire off a symptom
The symptom is the effect of the problem that accumulated over time

You do not need to have “a problem or symptoms” to come in for an assessment or a treatment, being proactive is much better than crisis care

The purpose of chiropractic care is to restore and maintain the integrity of the relationship between the brain, the spinal cord, its nerve roots and all the cells, tissues, and organs under its control.

Problem is most people come in when they have been ignoring the bodies cries for help for a while and they are in PAIN in one area or a few areas and then expect me/us to just magically it away by clicking our fingers 😂 education of each client that passes the door step

Two things about relationships that begin based on a lie: they tend to be brief and they tend to end badly.

I raise this because there are chiropractors who accept new patients under the pretense that they are treating the patient's ache or pain. It's a lie. Instead, chiropractic depends upon reviving the self-healing capacity of the patient by reducing nervous system interference. Which, as it manifests from patient to patient, is impossible to predict or control.

The expectation of reducing the patient's symptoms is based on several unhelpful assumptions:

1. The stressor that produced the patient's problem is no longer present.
2. The patient is willing to reform lifestyle choices that could impair their ability to heal.

Seems that chiropractors seduced into treating symptoms, or failing to explain this distinction to patients, find themselves as host to countless inactive patient file folders and an emotional state bordering on burnout.

When most patients consult a chiropractor, they have one objective: get out of pain. Yet, there are still chiropractors inclined to offer patients the choice of different types of care at the initial report of findings. How generous.

Sometimes they will even ask outright on the admitting paperwork whether they are interested in patch care (which stupid, unattractive and shortsighted patients choose) or fix care (that intelligent, attractive and enlightened patients choose).

Nonsense!

From the patient's point of view, you must "prove" yourself by resolving the symptomatic issue prompting their visit to your practice, before you're valid for anything else. In other words, talking about marriage and kids on the first date is, well, off-putting. Slow down cowboy!

Absolutely explain that there are practice members who avail themselves of maintenance, prevention or wellness care, but your first mission is to help them with the issue that has prompted their visit.
