I’m teaching my kids exclusion is an under-the-radar form of bullying.

We’ve all experienced it—
that sting of being left out,
of two friends whispering a secret in front of you
and refusing to tell you what it’s about.

It happens in our schools,
on sports teams,
in after-school activities and clubs.
And while it may seem subtle,
it can be deeply damaging.

When a group consistently leaves someone out—
when they make sure that person knows they’re not invited,
not wanted,
not part of the circle—
that’s not harmless.
That’s bullying.

This kind of behavior chips away at self-esteem.
It teaches kids they’re never enough.
And the silence around it allows it to keep spreading.

Not liking someone is human.
But you can still be kind.
You can still be civil.
You can still make space for empathy.

Because bullying isn’t just about pushing someone on the playground.

Exclusion is a silent pandemic.
And it’s time we start calling it what it is.

You find yourself snacking between meals / when not hungry
You snack in the evenings, after dinner, again when not actually hungry
You snack in the car
You snack when you’re upset/stressed
You end up feeling guilty, angry, upset with yourself and the cycle continues.
When we work on the underlying issues, the symptom (snacking) collapses, and you’re back in control. This is designed to help yuo heal your relationship with you, to listen to your body, and ask ‘is this hunger, or is this emotion?’ and to learn the difference between the two.

We're hearing a lot about intergenerational trauma on the news here lately. So, what exactly is it, and how is it affecting so many of us?

Intergenerational trauma refers to how the effects of trauma can be passed down through families; not through stories alone, but through patterns in the nervous system, stress responses, beliefs, and coping strategies. You don’t need to have lived through the original event to feel its impact. This can show up as:

• ongoing anxiety or hyper-vigilance
• emotional overwhelm or shutdown
• patterns in relationships you can’t quite explain
• a sense of carrying something that isn’t fully yours

In my work, I support people using BWRT (BrainWorking Recursive Therapy) to address how these patterns are held in the brain and nervous system, without needing to relive or retell painful experiences. This work isn’t about blame or digging into the past. It’s about giving the brain the opportunity to update old survival responses that are no longer needed.
