Meet the team!
Following the trend, I’m not sure if we’d more fun posting these on the instructor WhatsApp or if you’ll have more fun guessing who they are. Caitríona & I clearly had the same hairdresser 😂
A truly wonderful bunch of people & I’m grateful every day for their support 🙏🏻

We get lots of questions from our prenatal clients regarding do’s & dont’s during pregnancy. Here’s a quick guide:

* Supine or lying down movements should be done on an incline. We allow existing reformer clients to continue with reformer but they must use the incline wedge. We omit supine work from our prenatal mat class. Working on an incline (lying on your back with the upper body propped up at a 15–45 degree angle) during pregnancy is primarily recommended to prevent supine hypotensive syndrome. This condition occurs when the heavy uterus compresses the inferior vena cava (a major vein), reducing blood flow and oxygen to the heart, which can cause dizziness, nausea, and, in rare cases, reduce oxygen flow to the fetus.

* No static stretching.
During pregnancy your body releases a hormone called ‘relaxin’ this allows a level of Increased flexibility in joints and muscles, which can lead to instability and increased risk of injury (e.g., pain in the pelvis, back, or wrists)static stretching (moving into a stretch & holding the stretch) can exasperate joint issues.

* Seated movement should be done on the birthing ball. This improves posture, reduces back/hip pain, increases pelvic mobility, and enhances fetal positioning for easier delivery.

* Pelvic floor control over strength. Our PF exercises focus on being able to control varying engagement levels of the entire pelvic floor sling, instead of just squeezing the middle. We hear lots about incontinence being caused by a weak pelvic floor but a hypertonic (over engaged) pelvic floor can cause just as many issues.

Join us for our next prenatal mat class starts on Monday 23rd Feb. 6-6.45pm. Processing course starts Monday 13th April. Link in bio to book!
