Monaghan Sports Partnership was delighted to present a set of Activator Poles to the hard working Parkinson's Monaghan Branch.

Over the past year MSP has supported the group with funding towards classes. We designed and delivered a Poles For Parkinson's Programme that was piloted with this group. Physios from the HSE Ireland conducted pre and post evaluations. The results were amazing.

We have now expanded the programme to Monaghan Town. The new programme Fitness For Parkinson's will be taking place in Carrickmacross and Monaghan.
The programme has 3 elements:
1.) Poles For Parkinson's
2.) Boxercise & strength and Mobility
3.) Tai Chi

There is also a new chair yoga programme starting in Doohamlet for people with Parkinson's and carers

If you would like to find out more about the programme contact Aisling aisling.mcdermott@monaghancoco.ie

Parenting Monaghan are delighted to invite Dr Mary O'Kane to Monaghan to have a chat with parents on 'School based anxiety'.
All children worry at times, but for some children, it can be a real challenge to manage their anxieties. As parents, when your child is anxious it can be difficult to know how best to support them.
However, parents play an important role in helping their child to both understand and to manage their anxiety. You don’t want to belittle the child’s feelings, but you also don’t want to amplify them.
In this talk Dr Mary O’Kane explains anxiety in children and offers parents practical advice on how to support their children during difficult times, helping them to manage their fears and gain confidence.
Dr Mary O’Kane is a Lecturer in Psychology, Early Childhood Studies and Education. She continues to work with Today FM, now on the Alison Curtis Weekend Morning show.
Mary is also a regular contributor on Ireland AM discussing a broad range of parenting and childhood issues while responding to viewers parenting queries. Mary is known for her warm and engaging manner and has a natural ability to connect with parents.
Taking place on Monday 1st December at 6.30pm
In the Peace Campus, Monaghan.
Booking essential!

💭 How’s your mental health? 💭Our Annual Mental Health Survey 2025 reveals that 82% of people intentionally do something every week to support their mental health — but 1 in 5 engage in zero days of intentional self-care.
🧠 Top ways people support their mental health:
✨ Exercise (58%)
✨ Spending time with family & friends (57%)
✨ Time in nature (44%)
👥 Barriers like lack of time, too much screen time, or not knowing where to start can get in the way — but even small actions make a big difference.
Let’s keep the conversation going this 💚
