After years of working with the body, I see the same patterns over and over again.

So here are 3 simple resets most people need:

1️⃣ Unlock your knees
Standing with locked knees switches off your natural shock absorption.
Soft knees = better control, less tension.

2️⃣ Feel your feet
Most people don’t stand on their feet.
They hang on their joints.
Try this:
feel the weight through your heel and the front of your foot.

3️⃣ Stop reaching forward
Bring your body closer to what you’re doing
instead of reaching with your arms and neck.
Nothing fancy.
Just better positioning.

🥋 One thing 20 years of judo taught me about the human body
Balance is not about standing still.

It’s about being able to adjust constantly without losing control.

In judo, if your weight shifts too far forward — you get thrown.
Too far back — you lose power.
⚖️ The body is always negotiating with gravity.

Over the years I’ve noticed the same thing in everyday life and in my work with people:

Many aches and pains appear when we lose that quiet balance with the ground.
When the body forgets how to organize itself over the feet, other areas start working overtime.

Movement quality often starts much lower than people expect.

HEALTHCARE POSTURE
Your work posture is shaping your body.
Especially in healthcare.

Even when you follow protocol,
raise the bed,
adjust the setup…

you still spend hours:
– leaning forward
– reaching with one arm
– bending from the back
– standing still between patients

Your body adapts.
Not in a good way.

Over time this often leads to:

• tight neck and upper traps
• overloaded lower back
• stiff ankles and sore calves
• shoulder tension from constant forward work

This isn’t about being “unfit”.
It’s about the body spending the day holding, not moving.

The missing piece?

Shock absorption and stability from the ground up.

When feet and the deep calf muscle (soleus) are inactive,

Sometimes one day, a bit of snow and movement you love is enough to:

✔️ wake the body up

Movement doesn’t have to be perfect.

Your calf is not just a calf.
It’s your foundation.

Most people stretch their calves and still feel pain in their knees or lower back.
That’s because the soleus muscle is not just about the ankle.

When the soleus is weak or stiff, the body compensates up the chain —
knee, hip, spine.

I see this daily in clients with “mysterious” knee pain.
No magic. Just biomechanics.

Interestingly, research shows that activating the soleus muscle (for example with heel raises) can also help improve glucose regulation.
This small, often ignored muscle plays a much bigger role in movement and metabolism than most people realize.
