2016 challenge — and looking back, what a challenge it was.
My days were madness – café mornings making scones, school MCS canteen setting up for the famous breaded chicken rolls, back to the breakfast club for morning coffee and chats with customers who are still great friends, baking cakes with an unreal team, then finishing with spa treatments in Ballyfin. Somewhere in all that, I got to meet the Moodys (friends for life), we had our first choir day out in the Dáil, had the girls home from Oz, and spent a very special New Year with Mam.
It was also the year I knew I couldn’t keep going like that and started to work on my work–life balance.
years on, with plenty of ups and downs, looking back has me laughing – Snapchat had to help with the timeline as some of it was a blur 😶‍🌫️😂 Grateful, grounded, and proud of what’s been done.

As I finish up for Christmas, I just want to say thank you all for making Serene such a success so far, and for seeing past the little flaws of my solo business journey as I’ve been finding my feet. This is just the beginning, and as we start to spread our wings, I truly believe we’re building something special together.

As we welcome Clodagh, our advanced makeup artist, to the team, I’m so excited to be adding more Serene treatments in 2026. Wishing you all a very happy Christmas and a year filled with love and happiness. I’ll be back in a few days over the next two weeks and, thankfully, fully booked for clients not in with me — I can’t wait to see you all and I’m so looking forward to 2026 ✨

Celebrate the shortest day of the year with a unique FREE event combining the best of Laois's creative talent. Join us at the historic Donaghmore Workhouse for an evening of Music, Story, Art, & Song.

The event features storyteller Mick Creagh, singer Ciara Julia Ryan, and artist Marie Brett in an Our Side of the Mountain artist residency event. It's a fantastic way to connect with the past and celebrate Laois culture as the light returns. All are welcome!
