Does noise feel louder when you're in pain?😣

New research suggests people with chronic pain may experience increased sensitivity to everyday sounds🔊

Researchers found that the brain can become more reactive to sound when someone is living with chronic pain, meaning normal noises may feel more intense or overwhelming.

This happens because the nervous system may be in a heightened state of alert, affecting how the brain processes sensory information.

🌿At Chiren Therapy Centre, we often see how prolonged stress and trauma can impact the nervous system and contribute to clusters of symptoms such as:

• Chronic pain
• Fatigue
• Brain fog
• Sound sensitivity
• Feeling overwhelmed

Sometimes, these symptoms may be connected.

Stress at work isn't always obvious.

More than half of employees say stress leads to mistakes — yet very few feel comfortable speaking up.

Sometimes "small mistakes" are signs of an overwhelmed nervous system.

At Chiren Therapy Centre, we often see how prolonged stress can affect both physical and mental wellbeing.

Calming the nervous system may play a bigger role in chronic pain than we once thought.

New research shows that improving nervous system regulation significantly reduced symptoms of both PTSD and chronic pain.

This highlights something we often see:

When the body stays in "fight or flight", symptoms can persist.

But when the nervous system begins to calm, the body may start to recover.

Clusters of symptoms like chronic pain, fatigue, headaches, digestive issues and muscle tension are commonly seen in people affected by prolonged stress or past trauma.

Understanding this connection can be an important step toward recovery.

Do your symptoms flare up on Mondays?😣

You're not imagining it.

After the weekend, your nervous system shifts back into "stress mode", which can trigger symptoms like:

• Headaches
• Muscle tension
• Fatigue
• Digestive issues
• Anxiety

Many people we see notice this Monday pattern — especially those affected by prolonged stress or past trauma.

Your body responds to stress… even before your mind does🌿

Have a lovely Friday everyone!

You might not notice it…

But you may be holding your breath while working.

This is called email apnea — and research suggests up to 80% of people do it.

When breathing becomes shallow or stops temporarily, the body can shift into a stress response.

Over time, this can contribute to:
• Tension
• Fatigue
• Brain fog
• Increased stress

The good news?

Even 60–90 seconds of slow breathing may help calm the nervous system.
Sometimes the first step to calming stress…is simply remembering to breathe.

Stress doesn’t just affect how you feel. It can also show up on your skin.

From dullness to dark circles, your skin often reflects what's happening internally.

At Chiren, we often see how prolonged stress can affect the body in different ways.

Supporting stress regulation may play an important role in overall wellbeing.

Overthinking can feel productive… but it can also keep us stuck.

Sometimes it’s not lack of motivation, it’s "analysis paralysis."

When the mind stays in a stress response, it can affect clarity, decision-making, and confidence.

At Chiren, we often see how prolonged stress can make it harder to move forward.
Supporting stress regulation may help create space for the next step.

Chronic pain doesn’t just affect how you feel… it may impact your heart too.

New research suggests long-lasting pain may increase the risk of high blood pressure, possibly due to ongoing stress in the body.

At Chiren, we often see how chronic stress can be linked to pain, fatigue, headaches, and more.
Supporting stress regulation may play an important role in overall wellbeing.

A gentle reminder this Easter…
Growth doesn’t always happen all at once.
Sometimes it’s quiet.
Sometimes it’s slow.
And sometimes, it simply begins with giving your body and mind the space to reset.

This season of renewal is a beautiful opportunity to slow down, breathe, and allow yourself to move forward at your own pace.

Wishing you a peaceful and restorative Easter Sunday 💛🌱
