A couple of weeks ago we said a very sad goodbye to our good friend Alan.
Alan will be missed so much by all his friends in Prosper Meath especially those in Canon Row.
The advocacy group in our Ashbourne service voiced their opinions on wanting a table that they could set up outside for the summer months to enjoy ice creams, eat their lunches on and to be able to sit out in the sunshine!
They decided to bring this idea to the Ashbourne Green Team and together, came up with an idea to save money from the Green Team's bottle return scheme. They have been recycling all cans/bottles each week for the past couple of months and finally saved up enough to purchase a nice table. They were eager to test it out today and some of the group brought out some chairs and had chats about how nice it will be to have this table option for when the weather picks up (which will hopefully be soon!). Well done to everyone in the advocacy and the green team for working together on this! 🙂

On 31st March, we marked a truly special occasion as we celebrated Pat Reen’s retirement after an incredible 36 years with the organisation.
It was a day full of emotion, reflection, and appreciation as we looked back on Pat’s remarkable contribution and dedication over the years. Pat has worked tirelessly to ensure the organisation is in a strong and steady position for the future, and his impact will be felt for many years to come. We wish Pat all the very best in this next chapter.
Thank you Pat.

Donna in our Emmet Street service recently celebrated her 40th birthday. The red carpet was rolled out and the day was filled with festivities with Donna being the centre of attention. As Donna doesn’t eat cake staff member Sarah made her a beautiful bespoke cake made entirely of items Donna likes such as scarves, hair accessories and fluffy socks. The cake proved to be a big hit and is a great example of person centredness which is so important to us in Prosper. Donna’s keyworker Arlene supported by the staff team made sure the day was very special for Donna who also enjoyed a video presentation put together by staff member Aiden with messages from as far away as Australia. Happy Birthday Donna from all in Prosper. 🎉🎂🎈

Philip from our Kennedy Road service works two days per week in The Handmade Soap Company in Slane. Philip has been in paid employment with the company for four years, and his role is very important to him. He is a valued member of the team and has built strong friendships with his colleagues. Philip took great pride in showing visiting Kennedy Road service manager, Karen, around his workplace and demonstrating the tasks he carries out. He also warmly introduced us to his colleagues and his manager, Jo Carey.
We wish Philip continued success in his role. We would also like to extend our sincere thanks to the team at The Handmade Soap Company for their warm hospitality and for supporting Philip in achieving his goal of being part of the workforce. 💼🧼

We held a celebration in our Ashbourne service to present Paul with his bronze Gaisce award and to present Jordan with his silver GAISCE award. We were delighted to welcome in Mary Yore from Gaisce to present the guys their awards. We also welcomed their families and friends so as everyone could be a part of such an amazing celebration. The guys worked super hard in three areas to achieve these awards- community involvement, personal skill and physical recreation. They were supported to achieve these awards by their PAL's Aoife & Eoghan and the team in Ashbourne. We want to say a massive congratulations to Paul and Jordan who are now going to be working on their silver and gold Gaisce awards. ✨🏆

Ann in our Canon Row service expressed an interest in taking a trip on the public bus to Blanchardstown to take a look around the shopping centre and the leisure plex.
This week, Ann was supported by staff member Mary to travel to Blanchardstown via the public bus, where she enjoyed a day full of fun activities and even managed to sneak in a coffee. ☕🚌

We had a fantastic visit today from Emily at MABS (Money Advice and Budgeting Service) here at Farrell Street! 💰
Emily shared some brilliant tips on how to make our money go further. Here’s a quick look at what we learned:
Needs vs. Wants: We did a practical card exercise to figure out what’s a "must" (like rent, bills, and food) versus a "treat" (like that extra coffee or a trip to the cinema).
The "Tap" Trap: It’s so easy to lose track of spending when you're just tapping your card! Emily suggested that using cash can actually help you spend less because you can physically see the money leaving your hand.
Every Cent Counts: Those little daily spends really do add up over time.
Think Before You Buy: If your phone is working perfectly but you want the newest model—is it a smart move to buy it now, or better to wait?
Emily also gave everyone a weekly spending diary so we can track our income versus our expenditure and see exactly where our money is going.
Did you know?
MABS is a completely free service with over 60 offices across the country, and they work closely with Citizens Information. If you need help with budgeting or debt, they are the people to talk to!
(And yes, she even left us with some handy free pens! 🖊️)
Huge thanks to Emily for such an informative and practical session!
