Today we remember and pray for Fr Alec Reid, C.Ss.R., whose 12th anniversary occurs today.

“Blessed are the Peacemakers.”

Fr Alec Reid was born on 5 August 1931 near Nenagh, Co. Tipperary. He attended St.Joseph's CBS Nenagh and played hurling with the Tipperary Minor team before his family later moved to Dublin.

He entered the Redemptorist Congregation in Esker, Athenry, in 1949, and was professed a Redemptorist Brother on 8 September 1950. He continued his studies at Cluain Mhuire in Galway and at UCG, graduating with honours. Fr Alec was ordained a priest on 22 September 1957.

He served most of his life in Clonard Monastery, Belfast. His tireless, hidden, and courageous work for peace — and the countless quiet acts of kindness he offered to the people of the city and country — remain his enduring legacy.

Today we give thanks for his life, his witness, and his peacemaking spirit.

May he rest in God’s eternal peace 🙏

David King took to the stage in Kilruane MacDonaghs GAA & Camógie Club Community Hall to call the numbers for the Bingo which the club ran for us last night. We want to say a massive thanks to our own Eileen Finn for helping to organise this and the GAA committee at Kilruane MacDonaghs. A huge thanks as well to all the people who attended and contributed to the Bingo night.

Not on duty but out to support the Brian Hogan Nenagh Celtic Supporters Group who held a fundraiser in our honour today. A great turn out at the football blitz and huge well done to the Limerick group who took home the trophy.

John Sherlock got in for a quick penalty 😄

A massive thanks to everyone involved in this fundraiser, to John Mulcahy, Con Morris, Robbie and all the organisers, the The Silvermine pub for subbing a team and to the Limerick team who travelled. We were blown away by the support and the help. Another amazing community group supporting us 🙏
