Hard to believe school has finished for summer - the year is flying in as always! It has been a very busy year for me with completing year 1 of a Masters along with taking on a new role, alongside Oldcastle Counselling, in a Family Support Centre providing play therapy support to families.

Coming into the last few weeks of school can see tired children and adults. Through training and learning about all the ways in which children’s brain development requires an attuned caregiver in order to co-regulate, Bruce Perry’s work around regulation is always at the fore. Often we try to reason before regulating and relating to our children. Below is an idea of the sequencing that really does work. We’re human so won’t always be able to respond in this way but consistency is key where possible.
