It's been a few years since I ran the Waterford half. I really love this race. Well organised and catered for. I really wanted to step off the gas at 10 miles but knew I wouldn't. Embrace the hurt. 74:35 today on a bluster day. I'll take that.

PAIN - After an injury or an acute episode of pain most of us give it a few days to see if it will settle. Sometimes it does and sometimes it doesn't. When it doesn't we either visit our GP, Physio, Chrio, etc. to get some form of relief. Our expectations are usually "I'll go to the GP or Physio and this pain will go away" However pain rarely works like that, and as the image shows below it is normal to have ups and downs along the way to recovery. Understanding this will help decrease anxiety and pain when you do have a backward step on your road to recovery.
