Traffic Disruptions
Wicklow County Council has announced road closure along the Rathdrum to Glenealy road to facilitate Coillte emergency tree surgery works.

The R752 Rathdrum to Glenealy Road will close at Glasnargret from Monday, February 24, through to Wednesday, February 26, from 9am to 5pm on all three days.

From the R752, Glenealy traffic will be diverted onto the L1152 at the bridge and progress to Barndarrig.
Traffic will then turn right in Barndarrig onto the R754 to Redcross, following the R754 to the right in Redcross to Avoca.
Turning right over the bridge in Avoca and right again onto the R752 to Rathdrum via the Meeting of the waters, and vice versa.

Storm Eowyn Update:
Due to the red weather warning The surgery will be closed tomorrow Friday 24th January. Please follow government advice and stay at home. In an emergency, please phone 999. This advice is to keep both patients and staff safe. We will review opening in the afternoon, depending on the weather and power supply. Phone lines are likely to be affected also.

We will be continuing with the administration of our Flu and Covid booster campaign.

If you are eligible and wish to avail of a COVID Booster or flu vaccine, please email : rathdrummedical2020@gmail.com or phone the practice and we will schedule an appt for you. If you could let us know why you are eligible and the dates of previous vaccines, that would be very helpful, PLUS your PPS no.

We will commence children’s nasal flu campaign, next week. Tuesday 25th October.
Please email for the children’s nasal consent form and an appt. All children aged 2-17 years are eligible. Bring the completed consent form on the day of your vaccination.

We will continue to run General Vaccination clinics every Tuesday afternoon for Flu, Covid Booster and for Nasal Flu.

*For a COVID Booster, you must not have had COVID infection within the last 4 months or a Covid Booster within the last 4 months.

Annual Flu clinics will be starting tomorrow 5th October.

We are going to be doing weekly Flu and Covid Booster Clinics , for our patients over 65, during October.

We will send a Text the week prior to the clinic, with an invite and time to attend. We are starting with the over 80s and will work down the age cohorts, each week. We hope to have completed everyone over 65 by the end of October.

To avail of the COVID 19 booster, you must not have had a COVID infection , in the preceeding 4 months and your previous Covid booster must be more than 4 months prior.

We need your PPS no. to process the flu.
Please wear a short sleeved top, on the day of vaccination.
Your are required to wait in the vicinity for 15 minutes post vaccination. The time is 30 minutes of observation, if you have any history of anaphylaxis.

An Afternoon Surgery in Aughrim will re-commence from Monday 13th June. It will be strictly by appt only. Appointments will be released on a Monday morning, so it is advisable to phone Rathdrum 0404 43436 to book an appt, first thing on a Monday morning, as appointments are limited. Dr. Sinead Sheehan

Happy New Year to everyone.
We will be running a Covid Booster Clinic on Tues 11th January
2.30-5.45 for patients aged 16-19
Eligibility: 3 months must have elapsed from the date of your last vaccine and you must not have had Covid infection, in the previous 3 months.
Please email: rathdrummedical2020@gmail.com ( if you wish to attend)
PPS no. must be included and confirm that you have not had a Covid infection in previous 3 months and date and type of last vaccine.

NIAC have not issued approval yet, for booster doses for children aged 12 to 15 years.
The the remit for General Practice was , to boost patients aged 16 and above.

Covid Vaccination for children, 5 -15 will be done via HSE so please log on to register via the portal.

As we hopefully are reaching the final stages of the booster programme, we look forward to brighter days ahead.

It has been a very tough and testing year.

So, please keep safe.
Mind your mental health.
Take some time to enjoy nature and get some daily fresh air, as part of a resolution, to start 2022 off on the right foot......

Patients aged 20-29 can register to attend a Booster Clinic Tues 4th Jan 2-5.45, in the Practice
or patients who have had single dose Jannsen vaccine.

We will be scheduling appts tomorrow, for the Tues clinic.

You Must not have had lab confirmed Covid in the last 3 months.
3 months must have elapsed, from your last vaccine.
Please include you PPS no and that you consent to receive appt time by text message.
The Pfizer vaccine has been allocated for patients under 30.

MODERNA BOOSTER VACCINES AVAILABLE THIS EVENING BETWEEN 5-5.45, if you are aged over 30 and have had no Covid infection in last 3 months and last vaccine, 3 months ago. Walk in clinic, so no need to book.

Also, for patients who have been referred for a COVID PCR swab test, please expect delays, in getting your appt. The system is under severe pressure.
Anticipated waits for the test 2-3 days.

If you have received an SMS from me, stating the referral has been done for a PCR swab, then your referral has been received by the HSE.
So please isolate pending the result and follow the Public Health Advice , as per the SMS.
