This time of year leaves have fallen, and there is more visibility.

Much like ourselves with the darkening evening, tears may fall, and what follows is greater space & awareness.

The way of living, against those natural cycles of nature can cause much resistance and pain.

A reminder of impermanence. The illusion of control.
A tree in Portlick Forest where I've camped and danced around a fire with friends. The spirit of the tree is well and truly alive. It is growing in a different direction now.

So why mention stigma when talking about death.

One of the reasons and feedback from people having attended a death cafe is that they have the space to speak and share about death. This maybe curiosity, having sat with a loved one or the subject always was of interest but would have found that many are not receptive to the conversations. Finding it too much, too depressing and why would people was to discuss same.

The feedback has been excellent on the lead up to the death cafe and previous cafes.

And a couple of people wondering why it would be called 'death' cafe, "what a name" "noone has a problem with it so why the need"

One of the reasons for death cafes is these exact comments. To become more comfortable speaking about it, also this is an invitation to others to speak about it.

The death cafes are in a comfortable safe space with a small intimate group. A casual informal chat that is not guided, with a cup of tea and cake. There can also be laughter.

We are looking forward to our next cafe with Kate Burrows at a beautiful venue of Westcountry Willows this Thursday 27th at 7pm. To book or have any questions, contact me on 086 386 4544.

I am excited to announce that Kate Burrows of Westcountry Willows and myself will host a death cafe on Thursday November 27th at 7pm.

The subject of death can be taboo which can lead to difficulties towards the end of life for both your and your loved ones.

The aim of Death Cafes are to normalise conversations about death and dying to reduce the stigma associated with mentioning it.

These cafes are one of many around the world and we are delighted to welcome you to this fabulous venue of Westcountry Willows in Ballinlough, Co. Roscommon.

Please book your place with Teresa on 086 386 4544 or if you have any questions.

This is not a support group or a place to get advice on death/dying although with the sharing you may receive what you need.

Our Mortal Call Retreat
Little did I know that while consciously exploring death and dying, it would embark on a huge journey and process. A deep dive with the ancestors, relationship to land place, and space, grief new and old impacting attachment patterns.

Change is constant, and our experience and world view of death (including those experiences gone before us) has an impact on day to day change and new beginnings.

I am excited to co-create "Our Mortal Call" retreat with .alignment in the wild landscape of West Cork on the Atlantic on November 1st and 2nd. Perfect timing when the veil is thin and in the darker days to move inwards.

We will creatively explore our stories and impact our relationship with death as we open up to its portal to truly receive life and living in a more conscious way.

I havent been on here in a while. Instagram is my go to. This popped up on my feed aa a memory of a workshop I facilitated years ago. Values/ priorities/ what's important were explored. I reflect regularly on my own intrinsic values that can also show up as internal parts as they change over time. Also, questioning if they are extrinsic or societal.

How there can be opposing values or parts.
Again, over the week, I noticed the part of me that values comfort and safety and the part that values growth, which can be uncomfortable. Both can he in conflict, creating stuckness and freeze in my system.
Valueing authentic expression versus others being uncomfortable with that.
The importance of noticing the other parts that can be the witness and creating safety to support the nervous system to hold and integrate.

As we try to move away from perceived societal values which is not in aligned with our true selves such as striving for certain education, family status, house, etc there can be a movement into a non conformist place like living in a modest way opposite to the "norm". Both can still not be in alignment and are conforming to something extrinsic. What does your true self/soul/heart desire, and that just maybe right this minute?

I have tried on many identities over the years so it's still a learning day or unlearning!!!
