Started a course in Restorative Practice today in Dublin. The course is the first of its kind in Ireland so we're really breaking new ground. it's very exciting!

This is a very interesting article around the harm that can be caused when choosing to use the court system to resolve disputes. I have mentioned this in previous blogs on my website. Where ever possible, it makes sense for disputing parties to try mediation as a first resort to resolving their disputes. It is a faster process, a cheaper process and most importantly, it maintains ongoing relationships and reduces the damage that law courts can inflict.

In this article by Sue Cochrane, a child of divorce, family law practitioner, and 18 year family law judicial officer, she describes that very real harm that litigation and court proceedings can cause divorcing spouses and their children.

Restorative Practice and Restorative Justice are areas of conflict resolution that I am passionate about. I am about to embark on a course in Restorative Practice that evolves around young teenagers, schools and communities. I believe that if we can teach young people a more humanistic approach to conflict resolution, using dialogue in a positive and safe environment, these young people will go on to become ambassadors for the next generation and so on and so on! Imagine a world where conflict is resolved through dialogue and not violence.
