A Dementia Café is a welcoming, once monthly meeting for anyone affected by dementia.
People living with dementia, their families and friends, healthcare professionals, and anyone interested in supporting a dementia inclusive community are all welcome to attend.
Dementia Cafés are:
☕ Free of charge
🤝 Run by local voluntary steering committees
💬 Relaxed and informal
🌿 Focused on connection and community
They provide a safe, social space where people can share experiences, find support, ask questions and enjoy a chat in a friendly environment.
The Irish Dementia Café Network
The Irish Dementia Café Network, established by Engaging Dementia and funded by the HSE, connects cafés across Ireland, each operating under shared principles and guidelines. The network supports local volunteers with guidance, resources and training to help them establish and run their own cafés, strengthening dementia inclusive communities nationwide.
