We are hiring | Chef / Cook 👨‍🍳👩‍🍳

Shannon Lodge Nursing Home, Rooskey, Co Roscommon, is currently seeking a chef/cook to join our team.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced, reliable and caring person to work in a warm, welcoming nursing home at the heart of the local community. The successful candidate will prepare fresh, nutritious meals for our residents, while maintaining high standards of hygiene, safety and quality.

We are looking for someone who:
• Has experience as a chef/cook
• Understands food hygiene and kitchen safety
• Can cater for residents’ dietary needs and preferences
• Is organised, dependable and able to work on their own initiative
• Works well as part of a team

At Shannon Lodge Nursing Home, we know that mealtimes matter. Good food brings comfort, routine and enjoyment to daily life, and this role is an important part of the care we provide.

Residents had a lovely afternoon tea after their usual live music session. A beautiful array of tasty treats. Thanks Edel, Rose & Lauren for making a wonderful display. To Elaine our activities co-ordinator and the staff who lift the spirits of all the fantastic residents we care for every day. A big thank you to the team. Happy Easter everyone 🐣🐣

Our residents enjoyed a wonderful training session on Virtual Reality sets this week.

They visited some local beaches across the West of Ireland, farms, and even a movie theatre!

This amazing project, working with the Community Linkage programme, will enable residents who may not be able to get out all the time, to experience all our beautiful country has to offer.

Thank you to the community linkage programme and Dr. William Farrelly and his colleagues for coming and sharing their knowledge and enabling this exciting project in Shannon lodge. To say we are super excited is an understatement .

Lovely day out at the cinema in Carrick with some of our residents from Shannon lodge who love the movies. Your generosity and effort created a truly special experience, bringing joy, comfort, and a sense of community to everyone. It means a great deal to see such thoughtfulness to have a special day for our extra special people in the community .

A lovely afternoon . Thanks to the lovely Irish dancers from Neill Blake school of Irish dancing who came in and performed for our residents. Fantastic 👯dancers.
With music and a few drinks and lots of green worn with pride today and a special birthday for one of our wonderful residents Patricia .. Everyone had a lovely afternoon tea while keeping track of the parades on the Tv. The shamrock ☘️ was worn with pride. A great day to be Irish ☘️ Lá Fhéile Pádraig sona duit.. Special thanks to our dedicated staff who go above and beyond.

What a fantastic day we had at Shannon Lodge Nursing Home celebrating Cheltenham Day today. Residents and staff gathered to watch the races, cheer on their favourites and enjoy the great atmosphere throughout the home. There were plenty of smiles, laughs a drink was had and lively chat as everyone followed the excitement from Cheltenham with some winners taking home the prize. It was a wonderful occasion and a day thoroughly enjoyed by all. 🐎

Beautiful afternoon yesterday with our guest pianist Chernel creative keys piano studio playing some old classics and modern music on the piano. To say music doesn’t touch the hearts is an understatement ♥️ A single melody can awaken memories long forgotten, bring tears without warning either sad or joyful it connects us all. Very enjoyable for everyone in Shannonlodge. We are all connected🎵
