I am delighted to have Lynn visiting us here in Ireland. I hope you can make it. She writes "I discovered yoga over 40 years ago after moving to London and, following the birth of my two children, I went on to train with birth pioneer Janet Balaskas (Active Birth) in the mid-1990s after attending her classes myself in both my pregnancies. I went on to co-direct the Active Birth Centre in North London for over 20 years, where I helped develop a therapy clinic supporting women and their babies.
I also trained in Thai Yoga Massage and Somatic practices, and deepened my yoga practice with teachers inspired by Vanda Scaravelli whose approach resonates beautifully with women’s bodies.
These experiences shaped my path over the past three decades and led me to train doulas, midwives, and yoga teachers to better support women during pregnancy and the postpartum period.
My trainings use an embodied approach to foster self-understanding, helping practitioners connect with their own stories while becoming more attuned to their physical bodies. Becoming more embodied in your work not only deepens your own awareness but also enriches the way you support women on their journeys through birth and into motherhood.
For me, this work begins in the core of our being—our pelvic and womb spaces—where so many stories are held. These may be ancestral, birth-related, or rooted in challenging—or even absent—mother relationships. Such experiences can leave imprints of emotional, psychological, or physical trauma, including pelvic floor dysfunction after birth.
Reconnecting with the pelvic diaphragm through embodied practices allows women to regain strength, presence, and confidence in their bodies, empowering them to fully engage in motherhood and life transitions with ease and awareness.
I hope you will join myself and Sara on The 10th September, if you have any questions do reach out to us . @clairemariebarton
