Cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR)
Is an emergency medical procedure that combines chest compressions and rescue breaths to help restore blood circulation and breathing in a person who has stopped breathing or whose heart has stopped beating. Here's a comprehensive overview:

When to Perform CPR:

1. Cardiac arrest: When a person's heart stops beating suddenly.
2. Respiratory arrest: When a person stops breathing.
3. Near-drowning: When a person is submerged in water and stops breathing.
4. Choking: When a person's airway is blocked.

CPR Steps:

1. Call for help: Call 911 or your local emergency number.
2. Check the scene: Make sure the area is safe for both you and the person in distress.
3. Check the person: Tap the person's shoulder and ask if they're okay. If they're unresponsive, start CPR.
4. Start compressions: Place the heel of one hand on the center of the person's chest, and the other hand on top of the first hand. Push down 2-3 inches deep at a rate of 100-120 compressions per minute.
5. Continue compressions until emergency medical personnel arrive.

CPR Techniques:

1. Hands-only CPR: Some organizations recommend hands-only CPR for adults, which involves only chest compressions without breaths.
2. CPR with breaths: This traditional method involves both chest compressions and rescue breaths.

CPR Certification: We at Everest Safety Elite offer CPR certification, through an RI.

Our course cover topics like:

1. CPR techniques
2. Automated external defibrillator (AED) use
3. Choking relief
4. CPR in special situations (e.g., infants, children)

*Importance of CPR:

1. Saves lives: CPR can help restore blood circulation and breathing, increasing the chances of survival.
2. Reduces brain damage: CPR can help minimize brain damage by maintaining blood flow to the brain.
3. Increases chances of successful resuscitation: CPR can increase the chances of successful resuscitation by emergency medical personnel.

Common Questions:

1. How long should CPR be performed?: CPR should be continued until emergency medical personnel arrive or the person shows signs of regaining consciousness.
2. Can CPR be performed on anyone?: CPR can be performed on anyone who is unresponsive, not breathing, or not breathing normally.

Overall, CPR is a lifesaving technique that can help restore blood circulation and breathing in emergency situations. Call us for your training……. 085 8617922

“It happened so quickly. One second I was standing there, the next I was being
buried alive. I could hear the clay falling, the water rising underneath me, and I
honestly thought my eyes were going to burst from the pressure.” – Adrian Keogh

Joan Flynn, Senior Inspector with the Health and Safety Authority, talks to former civil groundworker and Kiltegan Senior hurling team captain, Adrian Keogh, about the fall that changed his life — and that of his family and friends — and his recovery experience.

⚠️WORK AT HEIGHT

*Falls from height remain one of the leading causes of death and serious injury in construction and agriculture. To tackle this, the Health and Safety Authority (HSA) and the Health and Safety Executive for Northern Ireland (HSE NI) have today launched a month-long, all-island inspection campaign.

Running throughout the month of October, this joint initiative will see inspections taking place on construction sites and farms of all sizes across the island, with the goal of reducing the number of serious injuries and fatalities linked to work at height.

Fire safety training tonight……

Fire safety week October – 19th October 2025

Theme: “Together Against Fire”

National Fire Safety Week aims to enhance fire safety, particularly in the home.

This year, for Fire Safety Week, our focus will be on Community Fire Safety, highlighting the importance of looking out for one another and supporting the more vulnerable members of our community.

By sharing simple, practical fire safety advice/tips with neighbours, friends and family, we can all play a part in keeping our communities Fire Safe. Here are some key fire safety tips:

Fit a smoke alarm in every room (except the bathroom and the garage) to protect your home.
Get your chimney cleaned and your heating system serviced once a year.
Always use a sparkguard with open fires.
Keep a suitable fire extinguisher and fire blanket in the kitchen.
Empty ashtrays before you go to bed. Run the contents under the tap before you bin them, and never ever smoke in bed, or if you’re tired or on medication.
Fix or replace faulty electrical appliances straightaway.
Do a quick fire safety check before bedtime.
Close all doors at night.
By regularly doing routine fire safety checks, following the STOP Fire steps, and by encouraging others to do the same, we can raise awareness of fire safety and safeguard our homes and our communities. Once a fire starts, it can be relentless, so it’s crucial to do everything possible to prevent one.
