For almost 13 years now I have been practicing Yoga.

For the first few years, I was practicing only Yoga asana, physical Yoga, but I could feel that there was a lot more to it. I knew it was changing me emotionally and mentally as well as physically.

I have spent almost 9 years studying yoga. Different schools, styles, pranayama, meditation, ayurveda, physically challenging Yoga and physically restful Yoga.
I have, unknown to myself at the start, spent a lot of time studying myself, attempting to break old patterns, learning to value myself, chasing my dharma, my calling, and trying to become a better version of myself.

I have felt defeated many times, but I have gone back to try again. I have had many moments of doubt, doubting if I belong in a place, if I am good enough, but I know this is all part of the learning.

I definitely do not have all of the answers but one thing I do know is I will never stop learning. I will never stop challenging myself, growing, developing & changing. We are ever-developing, complex beings who are trying to become the best versions of ourselves and reach our full potential.

"Yogas Chitta Vritti Nirodha"

Yoga Sutra 1.2 by Patanjali

True yoga involves stilling the mind's constant fluctuations, the chatter, thoughts, and emotions (vrittis) that arise from the mind (chitta), leading to a state of inner peace, clarity, and union with the Self.

There are five types of Vrittis:
Right Cognition (Pramana),
Misconception (Viparyaya),
Imagination (Vikalpa),
Sleep (Nidra), and
Memory (Smriti),
Each has a unique influence on our daily lives and spiritual journey.

NEW!!!

✨️ Sunday Sadhana ✨️

Sunday 12th October &
Sunday 14th December,
5pm - 7pm.
Riverside Studio, North Street, Skibbereen, €30.

I've put a lot of work, years of training and practice and consideration into creating this offering!
I wanted to create a totally unique offering that can help you, educate you, and allow you to understand yourself, but make it simple and practical.

Sunday Sadhana will be a series of 2 hour offerings where we will explore authentic, holistic yoga and its benefits.
Through gentle movement (it is Sunday evening after all!), pranayana, meditation & mantra, we will explore different themes of yogic philosophy and how they relate to your life, how you can cultivate ease, stability and bliss in your life, whether or not you practice yoga regularly at the moment.

Learn simple and easy practices that you can do yourself every day as part of your practice, your daily sadhana.

I really want to make this simple and easy to understand, yogic philosophy doesn't need to be abstract. And yes, we will finish with Yoga Nidra! What else would you want on a Sunday evening in autumn/winter!

• 12th October- Yoga As A Holistic Guide To Personal Growth.
• 14th December - The Power Of Pranayama & Magic Of Meditation.

Spaces are limited.

I've had a lot of lessons over the last few months. Lots of growth, lots of observation of myself, lots of feeling vulnerable, unlearning and learning.

When we are pushed outside of our comfort zone into that unfamiliar yet familiar feeling of discomfort, we are meeting our edges. We have the choice to grow, to expand, learn and take it all in, or revert into our comfort zone. When we are challenged it is an opportunity to grow, to become an evolved version of ourselves. We outgrow the old version of ourselves and step, with power, into the new version.

I am so grateful to be surrounded by people who challenge me, encourage me, allow and help me to grow in the most supportive way, completely unknown to themselves. I am grateful to have the tools through my practice, to be able to sit with the discomfort, to see the lessons and rise to the challenges

It's simple really.
Don't try to be anything you are not, just grow.

My Journey So Far...

I started my yoga journey around 2013 when I was living in Perth, Western Australia. I went to my first class, like many others, looking for a new type of physical exercise. I was surprised to find I couldn’t do many of the poses and I could not believe how stiff my body was and how little balance I had. I went to the gym regularly but I was really surprised that I found yoga physically very challenging. But I quickly saw the benefits. I noticed my body ease into the poses after some practice and felt myself build strength and flexibility and I loved this change I was going through. I also noticed it was one of the only ways I could get my overactive “monkey mind” to slow down. Soon I was practicing 4 / 5 times a week, I was fortunate enough to have amazing teachers at The Yoga Vine in Perth who thought me so much and helped me deepen my journey and I found myself wanting to learn more about the asanas, anatomy, the history, philosophy, meditation and pranayama so I decided to do my teacher training.

I did my 200 hour yoga teacher training In Koh Lanta in Thailand with Dr Gaurav Malik - Ashtak yoga school in 2017. It was an intense, physically and emotionally challenging 4 weeks but an amazing opportunity to immerse myself in the practice and learn everything Gaurav had to teach us. I learned more than I ever thought I would and couldn’t wait to continue my journey and learning.

Over the years I have had the opportunity to practice with and learn from some amazing teachers in Australia, New Zealand, Thailand and Ireland. I have practiced many different types of yoga including Vinyasa, Hatha, Ashtanga, Yin and Hot yoga. I now teach in Abbeystrewery Hall, Bridge Street, Skibbereen: Dynamic Vinyasa Tuesdays 8pm and Sunrise Vinyasa Thursdays 7am and in Caharagh Mondays at 7pm. I feel so fortunate to be able to share the things I have learned over the years with people and also continue my learning through teaching, completing more trainings and reading. I believe you are forever a student, in every aspect of life and there is so much to learn. I have a huge interest in wellness in general – fitness, nutrition, mindfulness, self-care and essential oils and I am constantly furthering my learning.
