Road trip to ‘Leap Scarecrow Festival’ with our amazing residents. We travelled by bus, had a picnic, chatted about the many scarecrows on display (and of course our own 😅), along with taking in the beautiful scenery. What’s not to love đŸ‘» đŸ„°. Thanks to the wonderful students on work experience with us from Skibbereen Community School and Schull Community College who worked tremendously hard throughout this past week. They were a credit to their families, schools and we at SRCC very much acknowledge their caring ways, enthusiasm and kindness demonstrated to all our residents during their time with us. Our future is definitely looking very bright 😉. Thanks also to Pat Fitzgerald for his professional and friendly approach shown to everyone during our trip and thanks also to and đŸ‘đŸ»

Big question for everyone tonight? After attending a recent function I was left with great wonder by the end of the night. Don’t get me wrong the tables were luminous with the most beautiful candles flickering, the display of many different foods looked like something out of a magazine and the soft music in the background set the tone as people moved around the room with great laughter and glee. Everyone mingled, told stories and was at great ease. Then someone entered the room and the atmosphere changed, people seemed uneasy as though they should be someone else, act differently, try to be a different person and that was it. The event finished and everyone left. My question is just because someone important entered the room, should people have to change their personality? Change from who they usually are? Be a different person?
..Answer: Absolutely not. We at SRCC are always proud to say that all our staff and residents are without doubt always themselves. No matter who we meet throughout life we should always be ourselves. We had 7 transition year students join us this week from Skibbereen Community School, they are a typical example of people being themselves, they were kind, caring, willing to learn and not afraid to try new tasks throughout their time with us
.all without changing who they are. Thanks to each and everyone of you for visiting us here at SRCC. Now the question is back to you all reading this
.do you change if someone important enters the room or event? Always be yourself no matter what the circumstances 😉
..let’s be aware as we move about this week

This is a story of 2 wonderful ladies, a beautiful friendship, a life of new adventures and ideas shared everyday, and what’s even more special is that they were both residents of ours here at SRCC. How can one improve on such perfection in life, what more can one ask for, it’s a beautiful love story in fact and one which we would like to share with you all. You will need to read the text on this opening picture and the rest is self explanatory. If I were to extend a message for the week ahead it would be
..don’t waste time worrying about anything in life (big or small), problems will solve themselves, everything happens for a reason but sometimes you need to wait to figure out why, be patient and most of all be kind to yourself and others
.life is short as we all know, use your time wisely and like our 2 wonderful ladies Helen and Andrea, be that friend, enjoy the adventure and look out for each other and quoting from Helen’s son Ronan Brady
.’Missing pieces can sometimes be the answer to the part of a much bigger puzzle’.

What is and who are we in today’s society?
We tend to hear a lot of negative reports both nationally and globally for sure but then again the media do like to navigate their tv shows with this in mind. For a big majority of people in today’s society they find themselves being characterised and lead by advanced technology, rapid communication, globalization and changing cultures. If computers failed to work (as they do), then the whole dynamic of a working day would change. Communication would somehow be less controlled as to how people would interact with each other
.the human touch would have to come back into the everyday living and the pace of life would slow down. Having digested all of the above, what I am coming to is this
.Life for our residents and staff at SRCC is navigated everyday by the most nurtured, caring, kind hearted people that one could only imagine being possible. How lucky are we as staff to work under such wonderful conditions and how lucky are our residents to be at the receiving end of this. Society should be like this, looking out for each other every moment of everyday
..perhaps not everyone is as fortunate but I would suggest baby steps, one has to begin somewhere đŸ™â€ïž

***NOTICE ALL THESE HAPPY SMILING FACES BEFORE YOU READ ON!!!!
.reflect on this as you continue throughout this passage. It is not rocket science now to know that society we live in today have transformed very much into an unknown area over recent times. It is also without a doubt challenging for many in our communities to find a level balance within their own structured lives. It may be financially, keeping a mortgage up to date, wondering which bill to pay next, possibly putting food on the table, finding a job and I suppose in general keeping your head about water (as the saying goes). You get up everyday and meet people, because yes people are everywhere, whether it’s shopping, passing someone on the street or acknowledging a work colleague throughout the day
.who knows their story?
.everyone has a different story to tell and that is fact. Sometimes one might think they are the only ones with ‘stuff’ to sort out but in actual fact there is nobody without ‘stuff’ to sort out. So on reading this please take a moment to smile and say ‘it’s all good’. You might say I don’t want to smile or feel like it but you might be surprised where it might find you
.you might warm someone else’s heart and in doing so it will come back to you 😉. It’s worth a try isn’t it?
..have a wonderful week everyone and don’t let society try you so much, your better than that đŸ‘đŸ»đŸ‘đŸ»

Waiting can be difficult and unsettling for many
.it’s a challenge put to all of us at certain times throughout our lives. You might hear the saying often heard in conversations ‘it doesn’t rain but it pours’ and perhaps this is true but alas there is a flip side to this. The art of waiting, don’t be in a rush, you can’t change things light the flick of a switch. If anything be mindful while you wait and where your at, you might be surprised what you learn along the way and however long or short it may be, rest assured it will happen and when you get there you will be both empowered and full of gratitude. There’s a learning in waiting, watch out for it 😉. This week we had the ‘Amazing Grace Community Church Choir’ join us for a morning. It was a time full of everyone’s favourite hymns to sing along with and their leader Rob gave an inspirational message prior to each one sung. Such a reflective time for all our residents and it seemed they were all inspired by this. Have a wonderful week everyone and don’t be afraid to wait for that all important something it may be in your life
it may take you on another road but life is a journey and it’s your journey ❀

‘Barbecue in September’
..and absolutely why not. The start of this week showed some lovely sunshine accompanied by beautiful balmy Autumn heat
you could say it was an impromptu moment and this was the finishing result. Sometimes in life you got to take a risk, it may scare you a lot but if you don’t, well you will never know the end result. As the slogan goes ‘Just do it’. Included are some active moments throughout the rest of the week, shur we had to work off the barbecue and vino đŸ”đŸ·. Have a wonderful week everyone and remember if in doubt
.just do it 😉
