Christmas Shoebox appeal 2025 🎁. Massive thanks goes out to our 5 transition year students from Skibbereen Community School who joined us on Friday to cover the boxes, fill them and explain to our residents what it was all about. This charitable initiative sees us fill boxes with gifts of essentials, toys and other items for children affected by poverty in Africa and Eastern European countries….these are often the only gifts they receive at Christmas time so we are very happy to bring some joy to them at this time of year. We then handed these boxes over to Sally Daly that evening…so a huge thanks to Sally 👏🏻. These young teenagers from our local school should feel very proud of themselves and indeed so should their families, friends and school. They are full of care, kindness, compassion and willing to put their hand to any task put before them. Included in tonight’s post also are photos from the bustling week gone by. We started a knitting club which has taken off like a light switch, the knitting skills which our residents learned in their past has obviously stayed with them, this is so lovely to see and we are currently working on a project so watch this space 😉. If I can offer one message of advice for the week ahead it would be….be kind, offer support to those around you in need, be compassionate (because you don’t know everyone’s battles), be observant and never judge anyone. There ya go that’s it in a nutshell, have a great week everyone and I’ll tune in soon ❤️👏🏻
