We’re delighted to be opening a new residential service this May in Co. Cork.

Nestled in a quiet, peaceful area with a large garden and within easy reach of the village and Cork City, this home is being thoughtfully developed to support children with intellectual disabilities and autism.

Designed for up to four children, this space will offer:
🌿 A calm, nurturing environment
🌿 Individualised support tailored to each child
🌿 Room to grow, play, and feel at home

Because it’s never just about providing a service—it’s about creating a place where children feel safe, supported, and truly valued.

It is fantastic to see one of our Regional Directors in the room at Leinster House, representing the voices of social care workers and the young people we support every day.

Yesterday Róisín met with Minister for Children Norma Foley, and had a productive discussion about the challenges faced by Social Care Workers and the young people in our care.

These conversations matter—and having strong, experienced people at the table helps make sure the reality of our sector is heard loud and clear.

We’re incredibly proud and lucky to have such a proactive and passionate leader driving these discussions forward. Well done Róisín 👏

What a fantastic day we had at Technological University of the Shannon, Athlone Campus, meeting so many students, lecturers, and TUS staff to discuss our services, career pathways, and placement opportunities 👏💜

It was especially meaningful to have members of our team with us who are past TUS Athlone students. They’ve been part of Orchard Care Group for several years, progressing within our services, and it was brilliant to see them connecting face-to-face with students to share their experiences and highlight the opportunities we offer nationwide.

A huge thank you to everyone who stopped by for a chat today — from the amazing students to the wonderful members of the TUS Psychology Society, as well as Anne Cooney Clinical Allocations Manager and Tracey Dillon Nursing Allocations Officer, Department of Nursing and Healthcare.

We’d also like to extend a sincere thank you to Careers and Placement Officers Lorraine Sammon, Anne Birch, and Keira Kilroy for their support in organising today’s event, and to the TUS Athlone Student Resource Centre for promoting the event across your social channels.

We asked Niall, Area Manager with Orchard Residential Care, what a typical day at work looks like.

Niall joined our team in 2016 as a Social Care Worker and has grown with us ever since — progressing to Deputy Manager in 2018, Manager in 2022, and now Area Manager since 2024 👏
