The last 2-3 weeks have been silly season.

But in a good way.

Work has been crazy busy. We’ve been trying to sort childcare for Kai for September. And then there’s the house….

We’re getting closer to moving in now. The plastering is finished and it’s starting to look like it could be liveable! šŸ”

We’ve had a lot of shopping to do….floors have been chosen, bathroom tiles, showers, couches, tables. The price of everything is insane! But it’s exciting to think we’re only 2-3 months away from moving in.

So life has been hectic. But it’s all progress. šŸ‘Š

š—˜š˜ƒš—¼š—¹š˜ƒš—²:

Strong starts all round to the new year….

ā­ļøJohn and Cillian are only 2 weeks in and have 2.7kg and 2.4kg gone respectively. Great start for both of these men. šŸ’Ŗ

ā­ļø Sharon has been with us since the end of October. In that time she has dropped a whopping 9.9kg (22lbs) despite having Christmas in the middle of that. Her fitness levels have skyrocketed and she’s loving have all her clothes fitting well again.

ā­ļø Karen joined us in November and is 4.9kg (11lbs) lighter, again with Christmas in the middle. My gut feeling is that 2026 will be a massive year for this legend. šŸ‘Š

ā­ļø James has lost 12kg (26lbs) around a very busy career. It’s the lightest he has been for years, and he’s loving life. šŸ˜€

You just feel… more tired than you used to.

Mornings hit harder.
Afternoon crashes are normal.

2016 was the least profitable, and the most valuable, year of my life.

The social media trend of looking back 10 years got me reflecting….

In January 2016 I was 4 months into running my own gym.

Even at that early stage of the lease I knew I was about to experience my first major failure in business.

It wasn’t working. And more worryingly, I couldn’t see the potential for it to work to the level I wanted.

I didn’t pay myself any money from that gym. Financially, it was a disaster. BUT….

I made a decision that I was going to use that time to sort my future out.

I was putting in long days but wasn’t busy. So I started writing, reading and planning.

I got very clear on what I wanted my future business to look like.

The most eye-opening thing was the realisation that I didn’t want to work in gyms anymore. I wanted to have a bigger impact.

Today our online coaching programme is one of the most successful in the country. The original, skeleton plans, were born in that gym in 2016.

I also made the decision to face my biggest fear….public speaking. And in August 2016 I did my first event. 100 people turned up and I was bricking it! šŸ˜®šŸ˜‚

You’ve often heard the phrase ā€œfailure is part of success.ā€ 2016, with hindsight, is the year that proves that to me.

It was the worst year I’ve had in business, financially, but it was the most valuable year for the clarity it gave me and the push to leave my comfort zone.

Without 2016, I’m convinced 2026 would look very different. šŸ‘Š

Final spam of Christmas 2025, I promise!

Among many other adventures we went to the top of the Tatras mountains in Slovakia. I’d love to tell you we hiked but we actually got the cable cars up! šŸ˜€

It was the first time in my life I wasn’t at home for Christmas. And it allowed for some amazing experiences.

In life, getting beyond the comfort zone is often where the best things lie. šŸ‘Š

Work travel doesn’t make you gain weight.
An unstructured plan does.

If your week looks like airports, conference rooms, late dinners and early starts, you don’t need ā€œdamage controlā€.

You need rules that work inside that reality.

Here’s the mistake I see over and over:
People follow a fat-loss plan built for a quiet, predictable week…
Then act surprised when it falls apart on work trips.

If travel is normal for you, your approach has to be normalised too.

That means:
• Protein before meetings, not after hunger hits.
• Movement built into the day, not dependent on a gym.
• Simple food rules that survive restaurants and hotels.
• Short workouts that keep consistency automatic.
• Fewer decisions, not more motivation.

This is how my clients keep losing weight
while flying weekly, presenting all day, and eating out for work.

No extremes.
No ā€œgetting back on trackā€.
Just systems that don’t break when life gets busy.

I was publishing books, contributing to national media, speaking on big stages and managing loads of clients.

Everyone told me I was doing great. Keep going. I was encouraged to do more and more.

What people didn’t see was that I was burning out, anxious and had no life outside of work.

I took a step back and prioritised my own wellbeing. And everything got better.

Through my own experiences I learned how to balance fitness with business and life.

I’ve now packaged that into a system that gets people in great shape, while also feeling great in career and balancing the demands of family life.

We’ve transformed hundreds of lives and created happier, healthier people.

How Fergal got in great shape, and fixed his nutrition problems.

Fergal has inspired many of our clients over the years. An absolute gentleman who was a joy to work with.

Fergal first reached out because his weight had been going up and up, and he couldn’t get it back under control on his own.

The frustration for him was that he was actually training hard. This is a guy who had run marathons. But yet he couldn’t get his weight down.

He had 3 major obstacles….

šŸŽÆ His knowledge around nutrition wasn’t good enough to get the results he wanted.

šŸŽÆ His career demanded a lot, leaving spare time in short supply.

šŸŽÆ He’s also a dad and wanted to be present for his family but was struggling to find time for this, work and fitness.

What we did….

āœ… Calculated his nutritional requirements and educated him on how to track them. Also designed sample food plans so he had some structure initially. It was really beneficial for him to see what it looked like, until his own knowledge improved and he became more self-sufficient.

āœ… Designed short, sharp training sessions that optimised fat loss but also worked around his busy lifestyle.

āœ… He engaged with every workshop we ran inside the programme and radically improved his mindset.

Not only did he get in great shape but the knock on to his training, and running in particular, was huge. Carrying less weight and fuelling his training properly. šŸ’Ŗ

Exactly 6 years ago I had my last drink.

It wasn’t from a ā€œrock bottomā€ place and I didn’t even know it would be my last drink.

On nights out with the lads I’d been having the same thought for a while….ā€I don’t enjoy this anymore. I’m just doing it to fit in.ā€

I had been drinking less and less in the couple of years up to that. I was feeling myself getting fitter, stronger, more energetic. And I loved it.

My biggest fear of leaving down the beer was that I’d become a social pariah. But before I knew it a year had passed. Then two. Four. And now six.

My fitness, body and business have gone to different levels. And I much prefer this version of me.

Everyone has a different relationship with, and opinion of, alcohol. For me, it’s a tolerated poison. Giving it up has been a huge productivity hack.

I never made a conscious decision that I wasn’t going to ever drink again. People often ask me if I ā€œdon’t drink.ā€ At this point I’m happy enough to put that label on it. I suppose you can never say never in this life but right now I’d be surprised if I ever have another drink in my lifetime.

On a personal level I don’t feel it adds anything of benefit to my life

Having said all that, I’m not against others drinking. Everyone has a right to make their own decisions. Most of my clients drink and it’s never an issue, we work around it.

Now when people say ā€œwhy don’t you drink?ā€¦ā€

Hey, I’m Alan.

We have a lot of new followers lately so allow me to re-introduce myself. šŸ˜€

I went from being an introverted kid who was bullied to overcoming my own struggles and making a positive impact on others along the way.

Success in my career came at a cost—burnout. But through that challenge, I learned how to balance fitness, career, and personal life. Now, I’m driven to help other overachievers do the same.

If my story shows you anything, I hope it’s this: when you think big and take action, anything is possible.
