CHIROPRACTIC CARE IS FIRMLY BACKED BY PEER REVIEWED EVIDENCE.

For many years Chiropractic Care has been challenged in relation to the evidence to support care. At CHIROPRACTIX Our practitioners are University Qualified, Registered with the Governing Bodies in Ireland, Europe and Worldwide, and are Fully Insured by all major Health Insurance Companies and Policies in Ireland. We provide Evidence Based Chiropractic Care to which there is plenty.

Articles and publications in journals such as the Lancet Journal, Journal of Manipulative and Physiological Therapeutics, The British Medical Journal, multiple American, Australian, New Zealand and European Publications, as well as in Ireland the HSE listing Chiropractic Care as an effective form of treatment for lower back pain.

The Peer Reviewed Evidence is now in abundance, so much so that Harvard Medical School acknowledges Chiropractic Care particularly for back pain and has now integrated the treatment of Headaches alongside other medical interventions in patients who attend their In-house clinics.

We advise to ONLY visit a Registered Chiropractor who is a Member of The Chiropractic Association of Ireland as all of Our Chiropractors are, so you can be confident that they are Highly Qualified, Registered and Insured.

CHIROPRACTIC CARE CAN HELP REDUCE TENSION-TYPE AND MIGRAINE HEADACHES.

Approximately 78% of the population will suffer from tension type headache at least once in their life with 46% of the adult population suffer from some type of headache disorder with tension type headaches being the most common presentation.

12-15% of the Irish population suffer from migrainous headaches, they are 3x more common in females than in males, and is said to be the 5th leading cause of disability in Ireland.

What can we do to help? Research has shown that chiropractic treatment and adjustment of the upper cervical spine coupled with rehabilitation of the muscles supporting the head, neck and shoulders not only reduces the intensity of headaches, but also the frequency with patients noting that symptoms reduced from daily headaches to experiencing them only 1x per month.

There are various types of headaches and it’s necessary that a qualified professional assesses, diagnoses and treats the symptoms as well as the route cause of a presenting headache or in some cases referring the patient on for further examination and assessment for headaches that are more sinister such as cluster headaches or temporal headaches.

IT’S ALL ABOUT THE NAILS, MEDALS AND THE CHIROPRACTIC CARE OF COURSE FOR

Orla is in her final weeks of preparation for the World Para Champs where she’ll take on both the 100m and 200m on the track, and we can’t wait to see her perform. Within that time we’ve seen Orla go from strength to strength picking up a bronze medal at the in the 100m and then went on to win the first ever European Para Champs in the 100m. CHIROPRACTIX CHIROPRACTORS TREAT MORE THAN JUST THE SPINE…

It is a common misconception that qualified chiropractors only treat the spine, however throughout the 4-6 years of university, chiropractors learn how to adjust extremities, provide all major soft tissue techniques (e.g. Graston Technique, Dry Needling, muscle Stripping, Active Release Technique, Trigger Point Therapy), taking X-rays of the spine as well as all body parts, use Electrotherapy Treatments and Machinery, Rehabilitation protocols, and have a medical based background studying the same subjects as our medical counterparts for the first 4 years of study, in order to be able to direct patients to the appropriate treatment modality and professional who is best suited for their care.

Our Team are qualified to fully assess extremity conditions such as frozen shoulder/adhesive capsulitis, carpal and tarsal tunnel syndromes, patellar tracking issues, knee and hip arthritic conditions, plantar fasciitis and many more extremity related conditions. We always check the spine as the nerve supply to these areas originate from the spine and the peripheral provides a pathway that takes information back to the brain. (Nerves have a sensory function I.e. hot, cold, numbness, pins and needles, and pain sensations as well as a motor function which is muscle tension and relaxation).

This is why it is important to find the root cause of a complaint whether it be originating from an extremity joint or muscle, or a referred from the spine to the extremity.

Although it’s a common misconception that Chiropractors only treat the Spine, Our Team of Chiropractors treat all joints, muscles and nerve complaints in the body. We do focus on the root of the complaint and come from a perspective that the brain and spinal cord control every function within the body, therefore the Qualified, Registered and Insured Team at CHIROPRACTIX work from the root of the complaint and work our way outwards rather than focusing just on the presenting complaint.

We look for the WHY? not just the pain, ache, numbness, tingling and symptom. To correct a problem we have to find out what has caused it whether, it is poor repetitive habits like lying overusing one side of your body, sitting with the one leg crossed, sitting in a bad posture with your head in an anterior position, sleeping on your tummy, holding and feeding your baby on the one side etc, and also taking into account that nowadays sons of these things can’t be helped due to working at a desk on a computer, playing competitive professional sport, gardening and using one arm and hand repetitively and jobs like hair dressing, as some of these things can’t be helped as they impact people’s livelihoods and some of our patients require maintenance care to manage and deal with the lifestyle choices and work that they partake in.

This is why we advise everyone to LOVE YOUR SPINE, as you only have one and it is extremely important for it to function at its optimum.

POOR POSTURE?

Regularly we get asked within our clinic locations to help people with poor or altered posture. This had been one a huge problem throughout the world in the past 10-15 years, mostly due to the daily habits and actions that people are repetitively doing in work as well as in life.

The online information and misinformation that is currently available can leave people confused, e.g. is posture real, posture doesn’t matter, there’s no need to maintain good postural health and practices. The truth and fact is that there are ideal ranges of angles at which the curvatures of your spine should be within which are used when assessing X-Ray images for diagnosing complaints such as scoliosis or Scheurmanns Disease. There is also the factor of gravitational pull on the body, and the curves at which your spine is at along with healthy discs act as absorption and a spring to withstand this pressure, otherwise if we had no curves on our spine we would have arthritic changes setting into our bodies at a much earlier age than what is current.

We firmly believe in practicing good postures and joint positioning as this allows your nervous system to function optimally, in turn allowing your muscular system to function more efficiently resulting in less aggravation of spinal nerves and peripheral nerves, decreasing the risk and onset of pain.
