Sport4Life Sport 4 Life - Expo and Conference will take place 13th to 15th November in the Finn Valley Centre, Donegal from the 13th to 15th November 2015.

Alistair Brownlee one of the greatest triathletes of all time special guest at Sport 4 Life:

Current Gold Olympic, European and Commonwealth champion Alistair Brownlee, MBE, who is recognised as one of the worlds best triathletes will be the guest star at the first Sport 4 Life Sports Conference & Expo taking place in the Finn Valley Centre in Stranorlar, Co. Alistair will be joined by many of our own top athletes Maria McCambridge and Gary Crossan. As Ballybofey/Stranorlar has now been designated at a Sports Hub for the County this event will be coordinated by Donegal County Council in association with Triathlon Ireland, Athletics Ireland, the HSE, Finn Valley Centre and BASICC. One of the benefits arising out of the recession was the huge increase in people taking up some form of physical activity, many people all over the country became socially active whether it was walking, running, cycling or swimming and a lot of these people are now competing in competitions. The conference will cover topics such as Health and Wellbeing, Nutrition, Physical Health - Care of Joints, Mental Health, Motivation as well as break-out rotational sessions on running, cycling, swimming with head coaches from Triathlon and Athletics Ireland also dealing with moving to competitive. There will also be an Expo with stands advertising the many products, gear and foods now available to athletes. This Expo will be open all weekend to both the general public and to those attending Sport 4 Life. A gala dinner will take place on the Saturday night followed by an ‘Ask the Experts’ style forum where you can pose your questions directly to our many sporting special guests. The weekend will draw to a close on Sunday with a fun Aquaton event, run by Triathlon Ireland – this will incorporate swimming and running or just running for those not interested in the swim. Refreshments and conference close will follow. Health screening will also be available to people over the weekend. There will also be space available for health/wellbeing services to exhibit their information over the weekend.

'Health' will be one of the major focus points over the weekend in terms of the Health Promotional aspect to 'Sport 4 Life' and the benefits to people. This will provide an ideal platform for businesses to be associated with an event that brings practitioners from the field of sport and health sharing their knowledge and experiences in a positive manner to the public. Attention: Are you planning a sport’s event in 2017? Need some advice on safety?
Donegal Sports Partnership in association with the Donegal County Council Road Safety Working Group are delivering a series of evening seminars.
The evening seminars are targeting volunteers / organisers involved in managing events especially those that utilise public roads and public spaces. The growth of recreational sport in the County has resulted in sports events such as running, cycling and walking events taking place on a regular basis, in many cases poor planning in such events has resulted in increased risk to both the organisers and the participants.
The proposed seminars will discuss the essential areas of planning, reducing risk, communication internal and external, managing and training volunteers. The format of the sessions will be interactive to allow for discussion between participants and the presenters.
All seminars are free with participants also being provided with a sports event planning guide to assist them in delivering a safe event.
Anyone interested in registering for the events which will take place across four locations in Donegal can do so by contacting Donegal Sports Partnership.
