This weekend, I had the privilege of attending Sensoria for the second year in a row, and once again it was nothing short of phenomenal.
As we come to the close of Autism Awareness Month, events like this feel especially important. They create space for open, meaningful conversations about neurodiversity, helping to build understanding, acceptance, and genuine connection.
Sensoria places a strong focus on children and families, which makes it all the more impactful. It was fantastic to see organisations such as AsIAm and ADHD Ireland present, offering invaluable support, resources, and guidance to individuals and families. Having access to these supports in such an inclusive environment makes a real difference.
At Lois Bridges, we also recognise the importance of early support. Alongside our adult services, we have professionals who specialise in working with children and adolescents experiencing eating disorders, ensuring that young people and their families receive the care they need.
In the context of eating disorder treatment, we know that eating disorders very often co-exist with neurodiversity. That’s why events like Sensoria are so important, not just for raising awareness, but for fostering a deeper understanding that benefits everyone.
The more informed we are, the more inclusive and compassionate our communities can become. Opportunities like this remind us how vital it is to continue learning, listening, and creating spaces where people feel seen, supported, and a true sense of belonging.
