We’ve been blown away by the lovely messages we received about Dad over the last few days.
Dad was cared for by an amazing team of wonderful people since December 22 at St Martha’s . He was a bit like a vampire he used to come alive at night, which was difficult to manage, Mum had spoiled him rotten here at Ballyglass and the team at St Martha’s continued to spoil him which of course he loved .
His GP Iver Hanrahan always went above and beyond for him, he had several different medical issues all occurring simultaneously and he managed them brilliantly. Dad always felt treated with dignity and respect .
Shane Kelly, had taken over Dad’s plethora of meds in recent years and always managed to get Dad the meds he needed which changed quite often, especially in recent months.
Thank you to all who took the time and came from near and far to Ballyglass to sympathise over the last few days, to our wonderful neighbours who gathered to send Dad on his final journey this morning.
Thanks to my friends who have just been amazing , so many offers of help , it was overwhelming
Tracy O Donoghue and Ken Merrigan , the best friends one could ever wish to have, always such a huge support to us , even more so over recent days
My husband Liam O Connor, such a supportive, loving and wonderful partner. Never grumbled if I’d to abandon ship and head to hospital with my folks which has been often since July 2022. My kids, Hannah and Sarah, loved the absolute bones of Bill Byrne and he adored them right back.
My siblings Jane Byrne and Steve Byrne we’ve shared such laughs over the recent days, far more laughter than tears, a sign of a great childhood and so many wonderful shared memories of Bill Byrne
Final thanks to Aidan, Mary and Willie of O’Briens Funeral Directors of Mitchelstown for helping us navigate recent days, consummate professionals and great friends of Bill, such great memories Dad made playing darts in Dick Henebry’s in Mitchelstown with AidanJackie O Brien
